My name is Tim Setzer and I live in Waterville, Maine. I’ve enjoyed cleaning cars since I was a youth, but have never been really “in” to it as most of the people on this forum. Reading through the forum is a bit overwhelming. It is like riding a cheap Wal-Mart bicycle for years and then deciding to upgrade. Once you start exploring the other world of bikes, you realize how much you do not know. I’m feeling that way about detailing!
I started looking at this forum simply because my arms are getting tired of doing the work. I decided I wanted to buy a DA polisher. That is when a completely new world opened up to me! I have lot’s of questions, that are probably answered somewhere in the forum, but here are my two most pressing.
1. Is it worth the money to buy the Flex polisher or is the G110 or PC sufficient? Most of the cars I do are in good shape, but do have minor swirls. My son has a 1999 Jeep and the paint has begun to fade. So again, which DA would be best?
2. I have used the Meguiar 3 step process for several years, all by hand. I have not noticed any substantial difference in the minor swirls. Will using a DA bring the results or do I need to use different products?
Thanks!
