  • Tim from Waterville, Maine

My name is Tim Setzer and I live in Waterville, Maine. I’ve enjoyed cleaning cars since I was a youth, but have never been really “in” to it as most of the people on this forum. Reading through the forum is a bit overwhelming. It is like riding a cheap Wal-Mart bicycle for years and then deciding to upgrade. Once you start exploring the other world of bikes, you realize how much you do not know. I’m feeling that way about detailing!

I started looking at this forum simply because my arms are getting tired of doing the work. I decided I wanted to buy a DA polisher. That is when a completely new world opened up to me! I have lot’s of questions, that are probably answered somewhere in the forum, but here are my two most pressing.

    1.
Is it worth the money to buy the Flex polisher or is the G110 or PC sufficient? Most of the cars I do are in good shape, but do have minor swirls. My son has a 1999 Jeep and the paint has begun to fade. So again, which DA would be best?

    2.
I have used the Meguiar 3 step process for several years, all by hand. I have not noticed any substantial difference in the minor swirls. Will using a DA bring the results or do I need to use different products?

    Thanks!

Hi Tim and welcome to Meguiar's Online

The G110 it's worth every penny there is! You won't regret it, it won't only help your arm outperforming you but the results that you get are just amazing and the plus side of it is that is very user friendly

Here are a couple of link that you can read for more information regarding this matter.

It's very important to evaluate your surface and test your process out but it can be that you'll need a more aggressive combination but I really can't say, the answer will be given to you when you test a small section
    What are you working on?

Thanks yalerd. The links are very helpful. From what I've read, I think the G110 is the answer for me.

These links may help as well, esp with your work by hand. Even with a G110, there will be some spots that need done by hand.

The DC system just isnt very strong of a paint cleaner, and even ScratchX wont do much if not used right, thats why working by hand to remove swirls on an entire car *****.

Welcome to the forum. I think I snowmobile up in that area a lot. Is it near Lovell or Fryeburg?
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

              Jokeman,
We're about 2 hours Northeast of Fryeburg. Just 15 miles North of Augusta.

Tim, Welcome to mol. Your arms are going to thank you for getting the G110.
