lol i wasn't knockin them... just saying in comparision to the ls1 and ls2 well there really is no comparison....we use to have one in our vs caprice...great engine dont get me wrong just thought holden coulda got a bit more power out of it...coz it was only like 20kw more than the n/a version.

Was the Holden supercharged 6 the 3.8L? My dad has one in his '02 Grand Prix GTP. At 240 HP and 280 Lb-ft. it runs great for a grocery getter. Nice acceleration pulling away from a stop. Almost 70K miles and absolutely bulletproof. Compared to the LS2 or LS1, it does seem slow, espcecially at highway speeds. But compared to other commuter cars, it stacks up pretty good.

yeh thats correct the 3.8l same as wat ive got in mine just wid a supercharger and a few other strenthing and performance mods....yeh they are great to drive just with the six u have to spend big dollars to get power out of them...but with an 8 if u spend $2k on it ull be making sum decent hp. got any pics of the grand prix?

    cheers

VUV6, nice little ride you've got there. and a nicely detailed engine.

Nah, no worries The 3.8L V6 supercharged motor was only 3kw less than Holdens 5L V8. 165kw compared to 168kw. Holden could have further developed the L67 but they wanted to continue to target the V8 market so the s/c 6 fell by the wayside. They didn't want to take the same road as Ford whos turbo 6 outsold and outperformed their V8 at one point. The LS1 and LS2's are beefy engines but I wish they could have continued to further developed the Australian made 8.

oh really.... didnt realise there was such little diff between the 6 and the 8...yeh i rekon they shoulda made a beefier aussie 8 but yeh i also rekon we should have a supercharged alloytech...but i dont think thatll happen
