We used to have something similar, aka the El Camino!

I'm the proud owner of a 2006 GTO! Needless to say I like Holdens.

                        Re: Gday from Australia

The Monaro may have more engine options, such as the 3.8L V6 with the supercharger, and possibly an additional V8. The GTO only comes with the 6.0L LS2 with 400 HP and 400 lb.-ft. TQ. The Monaro has a different front end so there are some styling differences. No spoiler on the Monaro. There may be some more differences too. Steering wheel on the right, possibly?

                          Re: Gday from Australia

yeh definately got the steering wheel on the right...lol
yeh holden binned the supercharged 6 a few years ago...was pretty slow really only putting out 220hp whilst the v8 was putting out round about 331hp with the ls1 then but is now about 351hp with the ls2...the holden special vehicles (HSV) version on the monaro the HSV GTO was putting out round about 386hp stock

vauxhall have got the monaro now too and they have a supercharged ls2 in that it makes 500hp which is nuts...mmm i want one annoying thing is we dont ave them here!

yeh think the styling is a bit different....specially the front bumper and u guys must have more power too...do u no wat the power output is in kw?

                          cheers

Hey Ryan, don't go knocking our supercharged 6's. I know they aren't the quicket thing from the factory floor. Stock the charger produces about 5 or 6psi at most. But you may be aware of a company over in WA called 'Forced Induction Technologies'. They've produced a lot of bolt on modifications for the L67 to make it a real speed machine. They've got a 1990 VN commodore to produce 340 rwhp or 254kw at te rear wheels. 1/4 mile = 11.48 second @ 117mph. Granted it has a 21psi pulley, cam, intercooler, exhaust, extractors and a computer remap but still not bad for a V6. Even a 10psi pulley upgrade and high ratio roller rockers will produce good results. Yeah I know. It'll never beat an LS2 (or an LS1) but they're still alot of fun.

By the way, welcome to the forum Nice to see some more Aussies.

400 HP = 298 KW if my calculations are right, and that is factory stock of course.

Was the Holden supercharged 6 the 3.8L? My dad has one in his '02 Grand Prix GTP. At 240 HP and 280 Lb-ft. it runs great for a grocery getter. Nice acceleration pulling away from a stop. Almost 70K miles and absolutely bulletproof. Compared to the LS2 or LS1, it does seem slow, espcecially at highway speeds. But compared to other commuter cars, it stacks up pretty good.
