    Here in Mexico they are also extremely expensive in comparison to the us. NXT tech wax cost about 400 pesos wich is around 35 Dollars, even the car wash cost about that much!

    Crazy, it should be controlled.

      Same problems in Canada. Megs prices are insane compared to US prices. Not so with other brands. Hopefully threads like this will get Megs USA involved because it is out of control IMO.

        I would think Megs would be cheaper in Europe since the Euro is worth more than the US Dollar. I can understand Megs costing more in Canada because our dollar is worth less but not 2 and 3 times more.

          Any explanation yet as to why we are paying way over the top prices in countries other than the US????????????????

          It's a great product, but, there are other as good products much cheaper.

          It cost me $20.00 the other day for a small bottle of chemical to just wash my wheels.

          I'm just trying all the products for now, but as my friends say "I could not sustain the cost of maintaining a vehicle with Meguiar's.

            It's pretty obvious the importers of the various countrys are just plain ripping people off. They can do this because people are willing to pay the insane prices. Unless Megs USA steps in I'm afraid there is only one solution and that is to refuse to purchase the products. I'm fortunate in that I live about 40 min from the US border and I purchase my Megs there. No way I'm going to support Megs Canada. I have no intention of paying $35 for a Megs Yellow polishing pad or $400.00 dollars for a Dual Action Buffer. Even with the currency difference, Taxes, and any other excuse they come up with the prices are a total rip off. I have called Megs Canada and discussed this before and was basicly told "you don't have to buy the products". They are sooo right about that because I don't buy them. Not in Canada anyway

              You would think that NAFTA would have helped some.

                Nafta doesn't prevent greedy importers from ripping you off. All Nafta did was make these guys richer. They charge insane prices as if Nafta didn't exist but none of it is going to duties or tariffs it's going into their pockets. I do not see any kind of price drop since Nafta came into full effect. So if Megs Canada isn't paying import duties why the high prices? Simple, because people are stupid enough to pay it. If people stopped buying believe me things would change. This thread is a good start. I hope Megs USA is paying attention.

                  Just get your products mail-order from the US. It's not as quick as buying locally, but it's not too bad if you plan ahead.

                    Yes that works too. If you order from a vendor that will ship USPS instead of UPS you will save big time on brokerage fees. Also some vendors will co-operate with you and "mark" your package in such a way that it will not be fully taxed or in some cases no GST and PST will be charged at all when it hits the border. And of course because of NAFTA there is no duties on Megs products made in the USA. In 90% of the cases it is cheaper to mail order to Canada from the USA than it is to purchase from Megs Canada.

                      It's exactly the same in the UK. I recently ordered some stuff from Meguiars in the US and had it shipped to a friend who brought it over for me. My total was $190, in the UK it would have cost over $400!

                      I contacted Meguiars UK and they gave the usual excuses. I'm sure Meguiars USA don't care how much we pay as I've noticed they no longer ship internationally, probably because all the local branches complained that no one would buy from them due to the huge price differences.

                      I bought 1 Ultimate Wipe in the UK for about $20 and loved it but no way was buying any more at that price. I contacted meguiars.com about shipping to the UK and they told me to contact the local branch as they don't ship overseas. I wanted to buy the 20 pack for $70 but I would have to buy them in the UK (where they don't seem to offer the 20 pack), this would have cost me around $200. So I ordered a load of cloths from PakShak who have great prices and only charge actual shipping. A lost sale due to rip-off prices.

                        Same problem also here in Italy:
                        Nxt Tech Wax: 37$
                        Endurance high gloss: 19$
                        Scratch x: 21$
                        ONE supreme shine microfibre: 16$
                        This is really too much. Thats why I usually import this products form USA...

                          Just to chime in on this thread,

                          First, please remember that my primary role here is to help you use the products in a way as to get the best results possible, I'm not in charge of, or involved with distribution, so my knowledge of this area is somewhat limited.

                          I have received some e-mails from people in our International departments and they are aware of this thread. Here is what they sent me, it is also a reply they send to inquiries to people that are looking to buy from Meguiar's direct, by-passing their local distributors.

                          ~~~~~~~~~~
                          Thank you for your inquiry regarding Meguiar’s products for sale in the USA. Unfortunately we do not ship Meguiar’s products outside the USA except to our authorized importers and corporate subsidiaries.
                          Launching the Meguiar’s brand in another country is a huge undertaking and we demand a lot out of our local partners. That is also why we have this policy in place of not selling product from our website or USA catalogs overseas.
                          Keep in mind that your local Meguiar’s partner is there to support you. The prices for our products might be a bit higher in countries outside the U.S., but why not ask the local Meguiar’s team to participate with your car club in some shape or form.
                          Thanks again for the inquiry and we appreciate you supporting our international partners.
                          Kindest Regards,
                          Lisa Daniels
                          International Marketing Coordinator
                          ~~~~~~~~~~

                          I can only imagine that like Lisa stated, launching Meguiar's products into another country is a huge undertaking.

                            dunno if this helps but just to add on to this topic, the price of NXT Tech Wax here in the Philippines is around $27.00. Total Landed Costs and marginal costs from the distributors here are driving the prices.

                            I'm seriously considering ordering them directly online. maybe I can get to cut down on costs if I order enough stuff.

                              Hi Mike,

                              First, I hope you are not taking any of my comments about the pricing personaly. They are in no way a shot at you or the great job you do on this forum educating people on how to care for thier cars.

                              Having said that I really don't care if I offend Megs Canada with my comments. They aren't doing me a favour selling these products to me. I'm doing them a favour buying the products. If they lose sight of that fact than they have some serious problems. The excuse that it is a huge under taking to sell Megs in countrys out side the US is lame to say the least. Mothers, 3M, Eagle One, 303, etc all sell internationaly and do not mark up like Megs. For example, I went over the border today to Amherst NY. I hit Auto Zone, Pep Boys, and Carquest. It was not worth it for me to buy any Mothers, 3M ,or 303 because the prices were so close to the prices I pay here that after currency exchange it would not be worth it . Not so with the megs products. Many are less than half price in the US. Megs NXT Paste was $16.00. Here in Canada it's $35.00. There is no excuse for that and everybody including Megs Canada knows it.

                              I wasn't aware that Megs US wasn't shipping internationaly any more. That disturbs me. This means that Megs USA is supporting the insane prices that these countrys are charging. Megs refuses to ship int. and forces people to buy at ripp off prices localy. There is a way around that. Purchase Megs products from other on line vendors who will ship internationaly. As far as I'm concerned paying the ripp off prices Megs Canada charges or Megs Italy or Megs whatever is not an option for me.

                              I'm glad the comments in this thread are being read. Maybe some one will come on and give an explanation for the prices being charged. I seriously doubt it will happen because there is no excuse other than people filling thier pockets.

                                I must voice my annoyance on this issue also... Megs products are very hard to find here in ireland... and when i do they are usually priced in the extortionate region. I recently saw NXT tech wax for 33 euro - about 41 dollars! compared to 16 dollars on megs usa, and 27 dollars on megs uk. Its only because someone I know buys in bulk and distributes to his friends that I get to use meguiars at all.

                                HELLO??? Does this not seem strange to anyone in meguiars?

                                16 to 27 to 41??? those are some serious jumps in price.
