I don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but just a heads up in case it is.

I do not wrap the cord around the unit. I coil the power cord the same way as it was shipped and use the ty-wrap to secure it. I keep the unit in the Meguiars bag too.

I need to clear up some possible mis-understandings. Though I was and am frustrated over this, there never was doubt that Meguiars would make it right. I have used Meguiars products for 20+ years and I have no interest in using anything else but Meguiars. My issues related to this subject are also being addressed outside the forum to greater detail and I remain confident that collectively, we will get the issues resolved.

Re: Guess which DA failed AGAIN!

Sorry for not chiming back in.
YES I do have a backup but unfortunately didnt have it with me at the time, just my rotary.
Last year when it happened I purchased an additional new G110V2 that has been used maybe a few times where by this one was mt regular duty action polisher and sees 1-2 cars a day. So while I am not exactly down, my confidence in the machine is.
I wonder if it was a made at a certain plant that had these problems? I purchased it from ADS do not sure if that makes a difference?
HOWEVER what does blow is the fact that my "back up" NEW V2 has the grinding gear sound at start up so definitely not impressed with the overall quality of these machines.
As far as storing the machine as I am a mobile detailer, I have an enclosed trailer with one side peg board and have the machines pegged up and secured to the board so the cord is actually stress free as it just hangs down. WHat really blows my mind as the day before I had used it there was no signing of failure whatsoever! I guess it can happen anytime....
Anyone know where the machines were made?

Re: Guess which DA failed AGAIN!

          Hey guys, little update....
Just recieved my new DA today and was told by Megs that they knew of the problem and added a shroud on the new machines built to avoid future cord issues.
Secondly the box it was shipped in had a production date of 3/2010 where as my first two machines where purchased in late 09.
Needless to say, the older one will be the go to machine as I'm sure it's a matter of time before it has the same prob
