  • Guess which DA failed AGAIN!

Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn I am so sad to report that my 6 month old Meg G110 V2 has failed again ... in the SAME manner as 6 months ago!
That darn power cord is causing it to intermittently shut off at different angles!
I can only assume that there is definitely a product flaw and probably a recall should be warranted.
YES Megs returned a new one to me 6 months ago but at $25 in shipping and now shipping costs again, this thing has cost nearly
$250! I could go get 2 Porter Cables for that!

sorry for the rant but I was in the middle of doing a 22ft Supra and showing the owner techniques for upkeep as he was gonna buy this DA and the darn thing craps out.

Who else is having this problem?

Situations like this can be awkward. For this reason, it's a good idea to have a backup machine.

    I have two PC's.

Well, if they (manufacturers) acquire your position on that one, they'll make even worse products.

The point here is to pay for the quality ..

I am eagerly waiting for G220 v2 to hit Australia, but after reading this and many similar posts on the net about this particular product ...

I have to agree with the rest. HAVE A BACK UP! My V2 went out for the same problem after doing just 4-5 customer vehicles and it crashed in the middle of a job. I was in Irvine over a weekend and had my son turn it in to Meguiar's (to save shipping costs) on Monday, June 7th and I STILL don't have a replacement. I specifically told them it was needed for business too. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Lesson learned. I have my old G100 (about 6 years old now and it keeps on churning and burning) that pulled me through the job.

Brian, why your G110v2 is letting down people?

Do you know what the problem is?

What are you doing to fix the problem?

                    Thank you in advance.

As mentioned earlier, I am looking to buy the same product, but number of stories of this sort make me

Re: Guess which DA failed AGAIN!

Question for you guys with the failures. How are you storing your machine? I had this problem with some PC's that resulted from the way they were stored.

I was coiling the power cord around the machine and putting a lot of stress on the point where the cord meets the machine. Crimping the cord like that led to the exact problem you described (the machine only working at certain angles).

I don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but just a heads up in case it is.

Interesting. I have a G110v2 I purchased around last October. It probably has 20 - 25 hours on it right now. No signs of quitting yet, but you never can tell. I suppose if it does, I'll get a PC 7424 XP. I've never heard of one of those conking out. I'm trying to save up for a Flex 3401 VRG right now. Then I would have two machines and just use the PC/G110v2 as the backup and/or for use with my 4 inch pads.

I was wondering the same thing myself. This hasn't happened with my D/A; but with other things in the past such as phone chargers and other power tools.

I store mine in duffle bag that came with the machine. I wrap the cord around the whole machine in the bag so that it creates a losse loop with relatively little stress on the machine-cord connecting point.

I don't have the G100, but I have a PC. Never had a problem with it in 4 years. These things are not hard to service by someone whom is mechanically inclined. If there is a break/open in the power cord, that is an easy fix, although the cords should not be breaking in such a short time.

I wrap my power cord around the machine so that there is little, to no tension where it meets the machine.
