Different faiths, different outlooks. The cow is revered by Hindus and is tied in with their belief in reincarnation. The pig is an unclean animal in both the Muslim and Jewish faiths, and the Koran and the Torah both have specific instructions forbidding the consumption of unclean animals which include any animal that scavenges waste for food. I think even catfish fall under this category for that reason.

I am surprised that the Koran forbids the use of unclean animals for uses other than food, but I only studied Islam on an introductory level when I was in college.

Re: Meguiars Slide Lock™ Detail Brush

      Let's all remember....

This thread started out as a simple question about the bristles on our slide lock brush.

Let's not continue to point fingers at who is responsible for packing, selling or knowing what the bristles are made of and/or turn this thread into a religous beliefs discussion.

We'll continue to keep an eye on this thread.

      Thanks for understanding

          KrisMas,

No need for you to apologize at all...

Mike Stoops was correct, and we can confirm, the Slide Lock Detail Brush does use boars hair for the bristles.

I think the problem lies with what your country allows to be imported and sold.Possibly also that you have diverse religions in Malaysia. If the shopkeeper has sold you this product knowingly or unknowingly, either way,I'd say it's a localised problem.

You bought it unknowingly, and have now stopped using them.I don't think any harm has been done. It's not your fault or Meguiar's,but a problem for your local authorities. If your government allows it,then it's okay.

I think that it is Hindu's that consider the cow to be sacred.

                  Thanks for the confirmation Mike.

Although I've stopped using it...I'll definitely going missing it. If not for the boars hair, I would have gotten myself a few more. The design was *almost* perfect for it's intentions and it's so versatile, and this also extends to the other Meg's brushes. Pity they don't make them any more.

I might just do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
