New G110 just died

  • New G110 just died

    Well, today I was looking forward to polishing my car with my new G110 that I got about 2 weeks ago from ADS. Perfect weather, car washed and dried, and I was ready to hit it with some 83 and 80 then follow that up with 7 and then some brand new NXT 2.0. About 4 hours later and only half-way through with 83/80, my G110 starts sputtering and then just died I had it on about 4.5 speedwise and never went above 5.

    I mean, come on... brand new G110 and I can't even use it for about 4 hours? I did take breaks so it wasn't on for 4 hours straight and it was in the 60's outside (I was in my garage though with the garage door open).

    I called Meg's but I missed them by an hour Now I have a half-way polished car and no G110 to finish

    My previous experience with DA's is a PC 7336 and a couple of classes at Meguiar's.

    I had one do the same thing to a customer of mine last week. Just contact customer care and they will quickly handle it for you.
    Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

        Same thing happened to me last weekend! My G110 had been in use for probably about an hour total before it came to a grinding halt. It would turn on again for a couple of slow rotations and then die. Seems there was a slight burning electrical smell. I shipped mine back to customer care a few days ago and await response.

        Meguairs has a reputation of great customer service so I'm hopeful.

          That's about how mine went.... very slight burning smell, slowed down, then stopped. I wonder if there is a bad batch and we were the unlucky ones?

          However, I'm sure Meg's will come through! That's the main reason why I got a G110 and not another Porter Cable.

            BTW: I ordered mine from ADS as well...so maybe it was a bad batch!

              I'm sure Meguiars will look into this and correct any issues with their DA units. Hopefully mine doesn't do the same but if it does I know Meguiars will do everything they can to help their customers out.

                Wow, what a bummer. It sounds like a bad batch. Thats a shame. I am sure it will be rectified to everyones satisfaction.

                  I really hope someone from Meguiar's can make a comment on this thread so we can really know if its indeed from a bad batch, I have one coming soon.

                    There are few companies that will stand behind their products like Meguiars will...I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over the G110...I'm sure they will exceed your expectations...the most important thing is to let them know what happened as soon as possible...and it sounds like you're on the way to do that so, sleep easy !!

                        Nice!! Can I borrow one

                        I had to finish by hand today... #80 just isn't the same without a DA!! Needless to say, I didn't get the swirls marks out. But I'm happy to say that NXT 2.0 works very well by hand - as does the Ultimate Wipe!

                          I just ordered a G110 through ADS today, hopefully the batch of bad units is gone.

                              No "Bad Batch", but we are currently investigating the few this has happened to.

                              The best thing to do....Not to worry

                              Just call Customer Care @ 800-347-5700 and they will take care of
                              you 110%.
