  • Ultimate Quick Detailer Hazing....

Per the directions, I applied Ultimate Quick Detailer to my immaculate brilliant black Grand Caravan, one panel at a time, using Meguiar's micro fiber cloths. Over several hours, the paint hazed up, and re-buffing didn't help. Finally, two days later, I washed and dried the van, but still had silicon looking blotches, here and there, which buffed off. Has anyone heard of Ultimate Quick Detailer turning to a haze, or where might I have gone wrong? Thanks.

What did you put on it before the UQD ?...how was the surface treated prior ?...I've used UQD on my black car since it was introduced and never had a problem...not sure what could be causing your issue...if you reapply to the blotchy areas does it go away ?

The surface was totally clean and dry, in my garage, in 65-degree weather, with the last wax being NXT, applied about a month before, with three washes in-between. I, too, thought about re-applying the Ultimate QD to see if the result would be the same, but it turned into such a nightmare the first time, I wasn't going to try it again! I never had an issue with NXT Speed Detailer or any other product.

        PCMark,
I've had this happen before on my black car, a light haze appeared after using the product. Can't tell you why or how this happened, but it was the middle of the summer time here and I pulled it out in the sun to heat the paint up then pulled it back into the garage, re-wiped and it cleared up.

          Re: Ultimate Quick Detailer Hazing....

I have used Last Touch Spray Detailer, Quik Detailer, NXT Speed Detailer and Ultimate Quik Detailer on my black Vette. I use #80, #7 Show Car Glaze to polish and #22 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax for protection. The best one for my regiment is the NXT Speed Detailer.

All of the other products leave a haze, but you have to look hard in the right sunlight to see it. I use all the other products for my other rides. I like them all, but NXT is for the Vette.

As a follow-up, Meguiar's Customer Service emailed me, confirming that hazing can occur if Ultimate Quick Detailer is applied in high humidity, so that explains it. Thanks.
