  • Removing buffer swirl by hand?

Trying to hep out a buddy but, is there anyway you can remove buffer swirls by hand? They are not bad at all.

Sure, just use a paint cleaner and work small sections at a time.

After the paint cleaner, polish with a much less aggressive product to work the finish to more clear, higher gloss and then apply your choice of wax.

M105 works great for removing swirls and scratches faster than ScratchX and Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner but you have to buy a quart at a time.

You can also use ScratchX or DCPC but you will have to apply with more passion and probably more applications to achieve what M105 can do.

The key will be working small sections at a time, about a foot square, and then when you finish one section and move onto the next section be sure to overlap into the previous section a little.

Thanks for the response. So M105 is fine to use by hand and with application pad?

Also what was replaced by the M105? I usually pick my stuff up at O'Reilly's but they don't seem to carry it yet.

It's a new product, it uses new technology.

It's in the Professional Line, not the Consumer Line, you'll want to find a PBE store or order it online.

I can usually special order it from there. I guess I'll give them a call. But it is ok to use with just a meg app pad, or how exactly do I apply/work it because I do see it at level 12.

The usual foam applicator or terry cloth would be fine.

You likely would need more than one application, so doing the first one or two with terry and then following up with one or two applications by foam can work well if you need a bit more agressiveness.

You would work M105 just like ScratchX... apply to a small area, smear around, then begin to work in with a lot of passion. The car should almost be rocking on the springs. Work until the product is a greasy clear, then wipe off, inspect, repeat as needed/wanted.

Awesome thanks. I have an extra bottle of Scratchx I can let him have to see if that even does anything before he buys the M105.

Yes! I did just recently. Here is a link to my review of M105 by hand. I will post up some pics next week with a step by step on removing swirls/scratches with #105 by hand.

                      Hi Guys,

When using Scratchx is it common for the application pad to contain pigment/color?

If you are working on a car that has single stage paint, then yes it is normal for the color of the car to make it's way onto the pad. That's how you know it's working!

Yes if you're working on a single stage paint.

If you're working on a clear coat finish you might have a tinted clear.

If you don't have a tinted clear coat finish and you're pulling color that's a bad sign.

Usually the color coat under a clear coat is not shiny but flat so it would be noticeable to your eyes.
