Try dawn power dissolver, it comes in a spray bottle and can be found in the home cleaning aisle. It gets tough stuff like NXT and #21 out without breaking a sweat. I haven't had much luck with regular dawn on those two. APC has worked ok, but the Power Dissolver is amazing.
>>>my fear is it'll be to wet for too long and then backing on the pad will come off and then there goes the pad.<<<
I'm still a rookie in reference to using a PCDA. I have know idea what to expect, other than what I've read. That being said, for me cleaning the pads would be considered inconsequential (waiting for the weather to break) for me at this point. I thought I'd throw in the thought of [maybe] using the dishwasher. I seemed a good idea at the time. Now that I've read you mentioned a potential DE-lamination debacle, I could see that as being a problem. Good catch.
You can avoid having to use any sort of dish brush/spur by cleaning your pads in a timely manner. I would say within a couple hours of use.
After I'm done, my pad is caked with "brand X's" fine cut or machine glaze, so I simply run the hot water, spread some dish soap on the pad and knead it in with my hands. Then with my thumbs (and the pad under the water) run them across the surface and continue to squeeze. Then wring 5 or 6 times until the suds stop, and the pad is almost like new. Been doing this on my pads that are approaching 1 yr old and it works great. Thing is, polish does not really penetrate deep into a pad's surface. I would say the top 1/4" maybe. That's why its easy to get them back to new.
Nice 5 min burst workout for your hands too!!
