  • Soapy Water for Wetsanding?

I have GoldClass and Hyperwash soaps in my arsenal atm.

Which would be the best for lubrication while wetsanding?

We just used plain water. That was single stage paint back in the 70s. I dont know if they still do it the same way.

You can use a little bit of either soap to add lubricity to your water. I have done it with a small amount of GC with no problems

I believe GC would be the better choice because of its high lubricity, and creation of less suds when compared to Hyper Wash.

If you can get yourself a bottle of #00, that would be the preferred wash overall.

          Hey,

Meguiar's #00 Hi-Tech Wash is the preferred wash for wet sanding, though I am sure you could use Gold Class as mentioned above. I use the #00 both in the bucket for the paper as well as in a squirt bottle (soap/water mix) for spraying while sanding.

Is there a huge difference using "#00 Hi-Tech Wash" in the squirt bottle and for leaving the sandpaper in over night ?

I only have wetsanded using a squirt bottle filled with clean water and a dry 2000grid sandpaper which I always make wet before and during wetsanding.

WHAT exactly is the difference when you use "#00 Hi-Tech Wash" ?

What's the name of the Gold Class Version of #00 ?

            Thanks !

              Re: Soapy Water for Wetsanding?

On the very limited wet sanding I have done, I used the 00 solution in a spray bottle. It made the area very slick. It was a breeze to wet sand.

... but if you use enought water the area is also very slick.

Well in the 101 class. Mike P. said to use Ultimate Quick Detailer when sanding. Your bucket that you rinse & store in should contain a few drops of soap. That is what I use and it works just fine for me.

Ultimate Quick Detailer for wetsanding ?

I have to do the whole car - A LITTLE BIT EXPENSIVE, I think !

this was just some keyed spots and half of the hood. You still use water from the bucket too.

i use last touch for wetsand and it does a great job lubricating 2000 grit sandpaper.

Use plain water+soap of choice. Just make it super slippery thats all

I did make the mistake in the past by using it with APC+ though (it was in the same color bottle as Last Touch). It still turned out great though lol
