  • Proper Pad Cleaning

    Hi guys,

Quick question... What is the proper method for cleaning your Meguiars Pads during a Rotary Session?

Hold a nylon brush against the face of the pad while brining the RPMs up to speed. The bristles of the nylon brush will kick-off and remove any built-up residue without hurting the foam pad.

    Like this,

The brush in the picture is a special pad cleaning brush by Ferro but a medium to hard bristle tooth brush will work.

      Thank You Mike!

Now after the detail....Have you ever used any of "Pad Cleansing" or what's the best way to clean them afterwards?

Here at Meguiar's, when we're through with a pad we store them in a cupboard where they dry and then before using them again we clean them in the above referenced manner.

We don't wash pads and at this time we don't have a recommendation for washing pads.

Can we do the tooth brush trick with the G100 as well? If so, at what speed?

No, not really, when you apply pressure to the face of the foam pad with the toothbrush the pad stops spinning thus no cleaning actions.

Purchase a cheap rotary buffer from Harbor Freight and use it as a pad cleaner.

Okay, so if you just store the pads up in a cupboard after you are through with them, how many uses do you get out of them before they need to be replaced?

I guess I was in the dark about this, I wash my pads every single time after I am done using them. I let me soak for about 2 hours in a mild solution to break up the polish, wax, or compound and then I rinse them very well 2 or 3 times.

Should I just be buying more pads?

                Thanks
