Re: Just got my first DA!!!!
I actually bought the rotary and the compound a few years ago because I had to repaint a few panels on my honda due to clearcoat failure and I have had to repaint them a couple times after that due to some mistakes I made in prepping the surface, anyway I've only compounded the entire car for swirls a few times and the swirls were pretty bad because my honda isn't garaged. My rotary goes all the way down to 200rpm which seems close to the speed of hand polishing (about 3 revolutions a second). In any case, I understand it might be my technique even though I think I've watched every polishing video by meguiars and autogeek on youtube, and now that I've had time to cool off from my frustration I think maybe I'll try a DA again in the future. I also realize maybe its the pad because I'm using a harbor freight black finishing pad, but it seems to work great with my rotary. Well I'm still thinking about it, haven't actually returned the DA yet.
