    Re: Dual Action Polisher G110v2

I bougth my DA this autumn so it think i still have a good chance to sell the "old" one even if it feels a little bit confuseing. It's used for only 2 times.

But i still wanna know if the old buffing pads will fit the new one, can meguiars confirm?

Not only will the W8207/W9207 fit, but the G110v2 comes with the W68DA backing plate that was specifically designed for those Soft Buff 2.0 pads! Your old backing plates will still work for those times when you might want to use one of our older pads or, if you're so inclined , a competitors pad. And don't forget, that included W68DA backing plate would normally retail for $35.99!!!

There is no reason that we can not use the old W8006/W9006 pads with the W68DA plate, right? The larger W68DA backing plate will just be a little closer to the outer edge when using it with the old 6.5" (W#006) pads, correct?

no offense but how is largest interval between speed settings in its class supposed to be a feature lol wouldnt something with the same 5000opm speed range but with 10 speed settings 500opm apart be more versatile than one with 5 speed settings 1000opm apart? would the best be a 5000opm interval?

Can the G110 handle 50 and 60 hz? I ask this because I can get 110 voltage here in Holland for the G110, it is just very expensive if I have to convert the hz(around 1000usd)

I'm still chugging along with my G100. It works well and now with smaller pads, I think it just got a lot more useful. You can't beat the Lifetime warranty.

You misread the post - we didn't say largest interval between speed settings

                            We said:

" Not only is the highest speed equal to the best in this class of tool, the lowest speed is lowest in class and great for final finessing of even a very delicate finish."

Meaning that it has the widest overall speed range, not the widest range between settings.

Beyond that, it's a very uniform speed differential for each numbered setting on the dial - 1,000 opm steps for each numbered setting. But of course the setting dial is infinitely adjustable - you can set it part way between numbers just as you can with a rotary.

Look at the speed settings for the original G100, which was a simply a rebranding of the much heralded and loved Porter Cable 7424:

                            Speed 1 to 2 - 50 opm increase
                            Speed 2 to 3 - 250 opm increase
                            Speed 3 to 4 - 680 opm increase
                            Speed 4 to 5 - 1500 opm increase
                            Speed 5 to 6 - 1320 opm increase

Heck, just going from 4 to midway between 4 and 5 gave you more of a jump than going from 3 to 4! How many of you were aware of that, and had the seemingly random jumps memorized? Or did you even care?

The individual settings are really just a guide anyway, right? But isn't a guide easier to use when there is some semblance of consistency?

actually, in the chart you did say it had the largest interval between speed settings.

                              but about the cruise control,
                              since DA's have a clutch-like-mechanism in them,
and with this one if you put more pressure on it, it will speed up to keep you at the constant speed,
does that mean this doesnt have a clutch on it thatll help prevent burning the paint or what?

Like you said Mike, it will be nice having a consistent increase in speed when switching between settings. Much better than the huge jumps that my G100 has at the upper settings.

I'm going to have to look into one of these at some point. Speed 4 on my G100 isn't much faster than speed 2 on the new one. Although my G100 is still working nicely, but I guess I don't know what I am missing by having never used one of the newer models.
