I was polishing a car today with a W8006 pad on my PC and I noticed the foam part of the pad was separating from the velcro part. I was just curious if there were any ideas as to what I did wrong or what happened that would make it fall apart? I have never gone over speed 5 on my PC, it wasn't very hot today (~75 degrees), I haven't even used the pad too much....not quite 10 hours of polishing with it yet. Any ideas??

Re: W8006 pad came apart
Is the backing coming apart from the foam or are you cutting into the foam with the backing plate on the PC? It's normal to cut into the foam with a backing plate since the backing on the pad is usually smaller than the backing plates used with the machine.Ivan Rajic - LUSTR Auto Detail

Re: W8006 pad came apart
Did you wash your pads with water? If so this could be a contributing factor to the glue on the velcro failing. If not, when did you purchase the pad? Maybe you should contact customer service.

Re: W8006 pad came apart
Just wanted to update on the pad situation.....talked to customer care and explained how it didn't look like I had done anything wrong to misuse the pad and they are sending me 2 free ones. All the stories I've heard about outstanding Meg's customer care are true....I can say that from my own experience now!!

Re: W8006 pad came apart
Just a another question on this matter. Since Megs came out with the new pads, will they still be producing the old ones for all of us that have the old backing plates and pads?
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.
