Is the Flex so powerful in polishing that it can get rid of buffer swirls? Lets say I buff with a wool cutting pad with M85, rotary of course, then proceed to lets say DACP or M80 and a polishing pad with the Flex. Will I be able to get rid of the swirls caused by the wool cutting pad and M85 or I still have to give it a pass with DACP with a polishing pad on a rotary? For you Flex users out there what do you think? Opinions of non flex users but have read a lot about it like Paul aka the other PC are welcome too.

In my limited exeperience with this machine, it will remove the buffer trails caused by the rotary. It has quite a bit more power than the PC does. In my previous post, I stated that I used a rotary with a maroon pad and 84 on a badly scratched up vehicle, then followed it with 80 and a yellow polishing on this machine and it worked like a charm. I would venture to say you can remove some serious defects with this machine with the right pad and product combo. It's a very nice machine, but it's pricey.

I would say... maybe. It depends on the hardness of the paint, and the degree of the buffers swirls.

I've only had a chance to use the Flex a couple of times, and the best way I can describe it is as follows:

It is considerably better (faster - more efficient) at removing paint imperfections than a PC, and "approaches" the performance of a rotary, but falls a little short.

This would be a great tool for the serious enthusiast who doesn't feel 100% comfortable with a rotary buffer. However, I would warn such users that while the Flex approaches the performance of a rotary, it also approaches the rotaries care in useage, as it can do more damage that a PC.

I guess to sum it up...

A PC is pretty much "idiot" proof.
A Flex is NOT "idiot" proof, but reasonably safe to use.
A rotary is not anything proof.

No, totally different machine. Look at the pictures on the first page of this thread, has a lot more power, probbaly fits in between a PC and the rotary for polishing ability.

I don't know if I'd invest $300 for another polisher....
Already have the PC and Makita those two machines are more than adequate..
But, if you have the extra money to spend and enjoy a variety of tools go for it...

My question is if the Flex makes you gain time when you use it compare to the PC and rotary together? #105 make me gain 1hour at least per car so if i can gain rotary time by jsut doing the Flex, it ll be good.

That depends on how good are your rotary skills. If you can not finish with rotary without having to resort to PC then Flex or rotary + Flex will save you time. If you can finish with rotary picture perfect even on black then ...

I am afraid too many people are reaching for M105 as a time saver even when not needed thus subjecting the car to more clear removal than neccessary and unneccessarily shortening clear's life.

Hi guys,

Total newbie here. I've been using my elbow muscle all these years and just recently bought this Flex unit.

Can someone recommend a pad to go with this unit for applying wax. My car is new and I don't need a cutting/cleaning pad (yet). So nothing aggressive please.

Also, do I need anything to attach the pad to? I believe the Flex comes with Velcro.

dude, buying a machine just for waxing is overkill in my opinion....but if you want a machine, get a porter cable or megs G110 since they cost almost half the price of the flex and you wont need the extra power the flex offers anyway...
