The guy in the picture is dragging the cord against the car, therefore, this machine is useless.

Any idea what the cost and/or availability of this piece is?

I believe it's the Flex xc 3401 vr and it retails for $300.

For that price, you could buy my Dynabrade Dual Action converter and a rotary of your choice and still have money left over!!!

Chris is right, it retails for $260 to $300 depending on where you get it. As of right now it's on back order (to much demand) at autogeek ...

I haven’t tried one yet but I’m told it’s a forced orbit machine. The motion is similar to the Festool, Makita and Bosch machines (although these others can be switched between random (DA) orbit and forced orbit).

It’s been getting very favorable reviews on the boards and has many converts.

In theory, it should be in between a DA and a rotary in aggressiveness but not be as prone to swirling as a rotary.

I got an itch and bought one of these... got it at detailedimage.com, 264.99 plush shipping. As far as I know, they still have them in stock.

Anyways, I like this machine a lot in my limited experience with it. I did a car with some needed correction work and I was pressed for time, so I went right to the rotary with 84 and a maroon pad, I followed that up with 80 on this machine with a yellow solo foam pad and worked like a charm. I would say it's close to the Dynabrade in ability in breaking the polish down and correction ability but is a whole lot lighter. It does tend to take you for a ride once in a while, so you have to make sure you have a good hold on the machine.

It's supposed to snow here tomorrow, so I had to cancel my weekend detail, but when the weathers permitting, I want to try it out on correction ability.

I think I am getting one of these...and most likely a G110. This thing looks like it has tons and tons and tons of power....I am more than interested. I just need to make sure it is worth it first. It is almost double the cost of a G110.

For me, the only negative about this machine is the price! I've not used the G110 or the UDM but IMO it blows away the PC for paint polishing.

aAfter having used a rotary and the rotary with the Dynabrade, the PC seems very weak LOL! Everything's relative I suppose. Now I have to fight off the temptation to get a Dynabrade and/or Flex and/or G-110.

With all the snow I'm in no hurry though!

The flex is on my x-mas list....the dynabrade on a rotary is way to heavy for me over a full day of polishing , so i figure this will be the last buffer i get for a long while...i have read so many good things about it that its a no brainer for me to have one....i just hope that i get it on x mas , because i hear that they are on back order. Well once i get it i willl post a comparison between the p/c , rotary and flex to let you guys no what i think of the machine.

That's probably because the PC has a cluth, the FLEX i'm guessing doesn't.....?

                          Cluth??

My guess is that it operates at a max of 9600 OPM's vs. 6,000 for a PC and it also adds a forced rotation (think rotary) of 480 RPM's something a PC and its variants don't offer. There are some true DA polishers/sanders from Makita, Bosch and Festool that offer something similar to the FLEX with the difference being that you can turn off/on the forced rotation function of the machine as you please where its constant on the FLEX.
