    Re: G100 European version

    Hi doopy,

I also live in Norway, I'm probably only going to use the converter togeter with the G100, so I will go with the 500W converter.

Please send me details of where you bought the converter and part numerbers. I thought the german converter on ebay looked pretty good. The power supply and power plug is identical in Norway and Germany from what I have been told.

Anyone have a link to an European source for 110V cabel extension reel.
I want an extension cabel with standard US socket/plug. The UK 110v extension cabels seems to have a custom socket/plug which deviates from the standard US plug.

Yes, it's a pretty good DA machine, and it has a dual mode:

        1) Eccentrical (?) mode
        2) Forced rotating mode ( Rotex mode )

And I believe it's very durable and high quality, and sadly it's quite expensive

          Just my 2cents...

Remember that power inverters are not 100% efficent. Check efficency ratings, just because something says it puts out 500 watts, doesn't mean its going to continously put out exactly 500 watts. For example, I use to run a DC->AC converter in my car, I used 800 watts, but it only ran at about 500 watts tops. So take into account anytime you add some resistance your going to lose some wattage.

Moral of this story. Go with the 1000 watt converter... Rather have head-room than not enough.

What is normal/excpected efficiency ratios of power converters. A 800W converter that puts out 500w would have a efficiency ratio of 62,5%.

            A smal calculation:
Here in Norway we have 230volts that gets converted to 115volts through the 500Watts PC. 115volts x 3,7 maps = 425,5 watts drawn at 115VAC.
To be useful the german 500w power converter then needs to have at least the following efficiency ratio 425,5/500 = 81,5%. Is 81,5% a reasonable efficiency ration one would expect? This means fluctuations of up to 18,5%.

Yep, it is expensive, around 600 US dollars here in The Netherlands I believe... I use a AEG DA machine, model EXE460, which is about 180 US Dollars, click this link for the specs on the AEG:http://www.aeg-pt.com/internet/AEG_P...1!OpenDocument

I'm using an 800 watt step down. I tend to prefer to err on the side of caution. This gives approximately 2X in terms of headroom for the set down transformer.

                Worked well for me.

I'm so confused.Which converter should i buy?,here in Thailand we have 220Volts.And if i use the converter,is that gonna be 100% work?
I'll use the converter with G100 polisher.

                  Thank you --

Kan ikke du sende meg en pm når du har fått maskina og testet den?
Skal kjøpe en selv men vil høre hvordan den funker her i Norge.
Har tenkt mye på det du spørre om,men ikke funnet noe fornuftig svar.

I would suggest that you provide some headroom and obtain an 800watt converter if you can. Some would consider it an overkill, but you will be able to reduce the possibility of overheating the converter.
The G100 should work fine with a converter, as long as you choose one of a decent quality.

                        Well than,i`ve ordered my G-100,and i think i`ll use a 1000W conerter,just to be safe.

What am i suppose to do if something goes wrong with the G-100 ? Meguiars Norway dont sell this machine, where do i send it to get it fixed?

                          Re: G100 European version

After like 5 weeks waiting my G100 finally arrived her in Norway. Been polishing my car intensely for a few days now and can say with confidence that a 500 W power converter certainly is big enough to drive the G100. I use a cheap 500W German converter bought on ebay that has the same power plugs as in Scandinavia.

                            Re: G100 European version

Well if 450w is printed on the pc, this means that this is the maximum amount of power it will use(this means under load), so 500w stepdown converter is enough. If you get the pc to "****" more than the value printed on the pc, you are allready about to burn out the motor, so if your converter brakes down this might save your pc.

But on an extra note, all converters(at least 99% step down, or step up) have a fuse built into the core, so if you brake it you cant change it. So looking into a converter that has an extra changable fuse might be worth it.
                            Tr0nder power!
