    Re: Rubberized Floor

That is actually pretty sweet! It looks like undercoating or bed liner material. I need that in my truck...

Wow Tim, I like the interior on your FX4. I REALLY wanted a white or red FX4, but when I got mine I was only 17 so I went with the EDGE.

I don't know what it is exactly about Rangers, but they are just so fun to own/drive/modify.

Agreed! While driving my V10 with 4.30 gears is a woot to drive as the power is amazing, my Ranger FX4 with its big V6, 4.11 gears and a tight ratio 5 speed automatic, the truck has awesome power! It really moves!!!

Yeah...I am really starting to like that mat material! Clean up is just so easy! And with the black leather interior, it just plain looks better than carpet IMHO!

So I tried both the Natural Shine and QID on a small patch (I don't think Hyper Dressing is available in Canada unless I order it). Neither seemed to leave a slimy or slick surface but I couldn't even tell the Shine was there anymore. The QID did a great job -- seemed to deepen the colour and give it a nice clean look.

I think I'll keep using it and save the Shine for the trim

Yeah, I would stick with Quik Interior Detailer.

I always wanted an FX4 Level II Ranger before I went with the Roush.

                Hey Tyler,

They have starting in 2008 done away with the level II and essentially the FX4 is now the level II. The new FX4 comes with a Torsen Limited Slip, which is a lot tighter than the regular limited slip available in other models of Rangers. The FX4 also comes with Rancho specially valved shocks, 4.11 gears and comes with torsion bars for the front end, again, unlike the other models of Rangers. Apparently Ford even gives it a rating for its off-road ability. Having owned a previous off road model Ranger, this one is a WAY better off road truck! And the other one was no slouch off road! Though my truck is new and the tires are basically new, I may be switching to BFG Mud Terrains like I used to have on my other trucks (except for my V10 which has BFG All Terrains as I use that truck for pulling my travel trailer to camping spots).

do you know of any good aftermarket rubber floor liners?

                    Morning,

Not really. Though if you are thinking about one for your truck, the GM dealer can probably order a replacement rubber floor kit. It would be a pretty big job to replace however and may not be worth the hassle.

You are talking about the floor and not the bed of the truck?

Yea, I was thinking about doing it to the interior floor, I dont mind the carpet but I think the black floorliner in your Ranger is pretty cool looking. And since the entire interior of my truck is black anyways, Its just something I wanted to look into.

thanks again Tim for the quick reply.

                        No problem.

To be honest, I am not sure if your carpet is black or not, but I have never been a fan of black carpet. It tends to fade over time, gets washed out looking and just plain looks used if slightly dirty. My wife's car also as black carpet and I hate it. We had no choice as she wanted that car and the model only came with the black interior. Otherwise, I try and stick to a gray carpet interior as it shows the least wear over time.

The rubber mat always looks clean and if it gets dirty a quick wipe with some APC followed by UQD and it looks like new again. Plus it does look cool with a black leather interior!

You could change out the carpet for a stock replacement mat as I know GM will have them for order, but it will be a bit of work as everything and anything that touches the floor must be removed. I have gutted vehicles for installing sound systems and believe me, it is a lot of work. If you do, I suggest making a video of each step just in case you forget how something came out or was put together.

I believe they have begun calling them "Sport" trim now. I had a 2002 Ranger EDGE with the vinyl flooring. Sure was easy to take care of. Mud? Rain? No problem!

My room mate has and Edge, we used the Natural Shine on his and it actually got very slippery... even weeks later its still slippery...

                              Made it look awesome though.

                                Re: Rubberized Floor

I've dressed my rubberized floors with M40 and made sure to really wipe it down afterwards to get any excess product off. It was still pretty darn slippery at first, but it sure looked great.

I had an idea, but haven't tried it yet, but I may try Hyper Dressing 1:10 or 1:20, that way it isn't very strong, but will still dress and protect the flooring with a very low amount of leftover product.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                                I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                                Remove swirls my friends.
