I have to agree with Tyler and Murr. Keep it clean and get a cover for it. Where to get a good quality cover , I do not know. Hopefully someone else will have that answer.

It's a 2000 Honda Accord. It doesn't have a leather wrapped steering wheel so there's really no stitching on it.

Which steering wheel cover do you use?

I just hate the feel of the cheap fake leather ones you get at Target or Walmart. Even the cloth ones are so big...just hate it.

I was thinking of spending some money on the good quality leather ones which are pretty thin.

I can put dressings on mine, with wiping off excess, because my steering wheel has a deep texture to it.

You can use APC and QID more often for good cleanings, thats for sure.
Thanks for that info. I think I'll try the APC and QID.

I actually never used anything on the steering wheel because I was worried it might make it too slippery or deteriorate it. But now I know I need to take care of it...

I did however clean the center piece where the Honda embelm is.

On rubber pedals I use APC or APC+ and just scrub them clean with a stiff brush.

About the steering wheel though...I agree with Murr, cleaning it often with a mild cleaner is probably you best bet.

    Steering Wheel Cracking/Wearing Out

I couldn't find this in the other threads so I thought I'd create a new one.

The top part of the steering wheel (vinyl I beleive) in my '00 Accord is wearing out & cracking. This is the part where I usually put my hand on while I'm driving. It's not all that bad but I would like to prevent it as much as I can.
I guess the oil from my hands has done this to the top part of the wheel.

What's the best way to protect that area on the steering wheel? Just wipe with Natural Shine Vinyl Protectant and keep following up with QID?

I really don't want that area to be slippery because I prefer to have a good grip on the wheel while driving (who doesn't ).
