Hello everybody,
So I recently transitioned from the Acura Legend that I was driving before to a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo. If that name isn't ringing a bell, it was manufactured in the United States under the name 3000GT VR-4 (though the body style was used by Dodge in their sports car, the Stealth).
What I am writing about is that I am having a lot of trouble with the engine on this. I can work with the rest of the car just fine if I decide to put in the time. I have enough of a background with paint, wheels, tires, and interior care to get that done pretty well.
But with the engine, I am just stuck. There are a lot of problems that I am running into. For one thing, I am completely ignorant as to what I am supposed to be covering up with plastic bags. I just don't have the information here. And not knowing it, I don't want to start spraying water into this engine. It's too nice (relative to the Legend) for me to take risks with.
For another thing, I am having a lot of trouble coming up with ideas on how to clean up the aluminum and metal parts of the engine. My best idea is to throw in Greased Lightning Degreaser and work it in with a stiff bristle brush, but I have no idea if this would be too strong or not.
Finally, I do not know what to do about dressing the black rubber parts. I have seen a lot of people referring to Meguiar's products that I have never seen in stores before. I'm the sort of person who would greatly prefer to get the product I'm going to use at the store rather than online. And to be honest, the Hyper Dressing that I saw on the website was priced at 42 dollars, which is way more than I would be willing to spend on something like this.
In the past, I have just used interior products such as Armor All. The problem is that it really doesn't shine all that much, and it is such a pain to apply it.
Does anybody have any input on how I should go about this?
