    Get my point??

Your question is not well stated. You said initially that you can't tell the difference between both glasess. Isn't detailing about noticing the difference?

If both glasses of water where the same, and the only difference where just service (where to sit, waiter instead of self serve, etc) then the price would tied to the willingness of the client for such extras which does not affect the outcome of the hired service.

He said the glasses and the water LOOKED the same. In his second post, he said they tasted different and the more expensive water was cool, whereas the other was room termperature. It's a pretty good analogy, actually (IMO). Sometimes, at first glance or from far-ish away you can't tell the difference between, say, a vehicle Joe detailed and a vehicle a bad detailer detailed. Once you examine closer, the difference is very obvious.

I'd have to ask why there was a difference in price. If the answer justifying the more expensive water was reasonable, I'd consider it.

I get your point but remember, a lot of people are satisfied with lousy tap water and don't see the added value of quality bottled water. Same with detailing. Far too many people are satisfied with someone just slapping a coat of wax on their car vs proper polishing and sealing. Those people aren't our target market anyway. There are more than enough people who appreciate quality work and are willing to pay for it. I find it more profitable to go after them than try and convince Joe Six Pack with the trashed minivan why he needs it detailed properly.

Good thought, I've only had contact with those who want a proper detailing on their cars after seeing the work I've done with my own cars. Not just a simple wash and wax.

If one is tap and the other bottled... I would like to know that if the differences were disclosed. I dont, and wont, drink tap water and personally I will pay for a bottle of Perrier or Evian time and time again vs tap.... Id pay $ for any bottled water vs tap.

Apparently you didn't know that much of your bottled water comes out of a municipal tap. Many people believe that just because that label says something like Calastoga Springs that the water actually comes from some pure spring. Bzzzt...Wrong. Much of the bottled water people buy comes from a municipal tap in their own state. This lowers distribution costs. As the "Blind Taste Tests" vividly points out, people couldn't taste any difference. The article also points out that the chance of getting better quality water is higher in a muni system than it is in bottled water since the EPA has stiffer regulations for the muni than the FDA has for bottled water.

Water is for washing cars. Beer is for drinking.

In fact, many times bottled water is tap water. Contrary to the image of water flowing from pristine mountain springs, more than a quarter of bottled water actually comes from municipal water supplies. The industry is dominated by three companies, who together control more than half the market: Coca-Cola, which produces Dasani; Pepsi, which produces Aquafina; and Nestlé, which produces several "local" brands including Poland Spring, Arrowhead, Deer Park, Ozarka and Calistoga (a fact that itself often surprises participants in the Tap Water Challenges). Both Coke and Pepsi exclusively use tap water for their source, while Nestlé uses tap water in some brands.

True, but Dasani is purified by Reverse Osmosis. As far as I know, Aquafina is also. I don't drink straight tap water, but I drink water from our well that goes through our Reverse Osmosis purification system. There's quite a difference between water straight from the tap, and water that comes from the tap but has been purified IMO.

I can't drink my tap water, It fails EPA tests. Has unsafe radioactive levels. I don't want to glow in the dark, so I drink bottled water.

Some further data and interesting links.

More than you ever wanted to know about bottled water.

Danasi is a Coke-Cola product. Mostly the water comes from New York and Florida muni taps. (FWIW, I find Florida has some of the worst tasting water I've ever consumed but that may be just where I've traveled there.) Danasi does use Reverse Osmosis to filter the water. They also add some minerals back into the water after they have been removed to alter the taste. Coke had a bad time of marketing Dansai in the UK after an excess of bromate was found in it. Coke ultimately pulled it from the market there.

Aquafina is Pepsi's muni tap water that is purified by charcoal filtration, reverse osmosis and ozonation.

I sure wouldn't dispute that bottled water may taste better or be healthier than an individual's private well water. I would however conclude from the facts that a city's tap water is likely safer than bottled water due the the EPA requirements for more frequent and much more thorough testing. Did you know that water bottlers are not required to test for the presence of E. coli, cryptosporidium, giardia, asbestos, or certain organic compounds such as benzenes? Your muni water is tested for these.

The point is that those who think bottled water is somehow safer or healthier than a cities tap water are in error.

I personally have Reverse Osmosis and charcoal filters on my home water. I also do drink bottled water when it is convenient to do so. When I'm spending my winter in Florida I drink bottled water (or beer ) as the muni tap water tastes brackish. I don't harbor any thoughts that it is healthier. I just have not fallen for the "bottled water is safer than tap water" myth.

So the $5.00 glass of bottled water may not be as good as the $1.00 glass of tap water.

While I appreciate your links to sources Ill politely decline to read them. To say tap water is just as safe and good for you as bottled water is well... partially right. If you took a 100 samples of tap water from different sources throughout the USA youd have 100 different compositions of water.. simply put some will have more of this and less of that... while some will be the opposite. Some will have higher levels of X and some will have less. Would you want to drink a tap water that has a near borderline safe deposit in it? I wouldnt. To be honest some taste better then others... Ive tried my share. There is tap water in the city I live in that I wont even drink.. I dont like the taste. Then theres tap up in the Sierras where my inlaws cabin is at that I wouldnt mind drinking a glass or two. Why? Two totally different compositions, tastes if you will, based on geographics and point source.

FWIW.. I used to work for Nestle Waters. I supported the Perrier, Arrowhead, and Calistoga lines.

That good lookin young man is me in my prime... we had to change the spare.

So.. where am I going with all this? Lets see... by show of hands... where would you like to get a cold glass of water from?

                            Here???

                            Or HERE????
*These were taken on a trip we took to Calistoga CA to tour the bottling plant.*

I know which one I would want.

The $5 water, not a whole lot more money but 1. you can get more water later whereas you can only get 1 glass of the cheaper water
                              2. The water is better quality taste wise
                              3. you can sit and drink the water, even if i wasn't going to sit it is a nice touch!

Its really the same thing for the detailers. If you are going to get your car detailer you might as well get it done right and better.

Wow, you guys are still way off Superior Shine's point, but since you persist on comparing bottled water vs. tap, I have to point out that my dentist told me that the incidence of tooth decay in kids is up and they attribute it to parents making the kids drink bottled water instead of tap water (which is fluoridated). Which of course brings us to the bottled "spring" water which is fluoridated...
