I was wondering....In the clay process....you're supposed to wash, clay, wash, wax, etc...Can you cut out the second wash process by using the clay with soap and water while you clay rather than the QD? I tried this after I clayed my girlfriends car and it didn't seem to have adverse effects on the car or clay...Is this ok? On a side note...I had clayed both mine and my gf's car and man..it's definitely like the instructions say Smooth as Glass!!!

        Hi there,

Yes you can cut out the second wash, I just hose it down.

As for the soap and water, I'm not sure but I personally would not, just my opinion though.

Well, as far as wash, clay, clean, polish, wax, I just rinse after claying , and dry then. I use the QD with the clay, but plenty of people use soapy water as well.

I'm not sure if there is anyone else that does this? But I clay the same time I wash, I wash off the dirt, then I take the clay using the soap as the lubricant. And it cuts out a few steps.. And I get the same results.

Yeah I wash, dry, clay and QD same time-since I'm QDing anyways. Wipe each clayed section with MF until whole car is done. Then I go over with M80 or M83 DACP, then Wax.

So Wash, Clay, DACP, Wax (NXT)

Depending on color of finish I might put Gold Class Clear Coat Wax on top of NXT.

DC#2 wont remove wax any more than rubbing your hand across will.

DC#1 should remove most everything, esp when worked in.

A good paint cleaner should remove wax, so it can get down to the paint and clean the paint surface, leaving clean paint to follow up with polish and wax.

According to David B., claying will remove wax.

And this is just my personal opinion, and I could be wrong, but I think that Meguiar's polishes will remove wax too.

I believe a polish is strong enough to dissolve a wax and remove it.
