Hi. I am aware of this product and it comes with a quick detailer and a white clay thing. I was wondering about what exactly is that white clay bar, is it like a even coat applicator? Does it run out? is it actually clay? is it similiar to a bar of soap?

My car was not dirty by any means (at least I didn't tnink so), the clay bar lifted so much dirt & grim it actually changed the colour of my car, made it a shade lighter and believe me it is "squeaky clean"
Also my car is silver the hardest colour to see a diference on.

Here’s a what the catalog page says; “Meguiar’s Quik Clay Detailing System safely restores a smooth-as-glass feel to your paint by removing bonded contaminants from the surface. The clay bar safely traps and lifts off contaminants as you lubricate the surface with Quik Detailer (included). Use our Microfiber Quik Detail Pad or a Supreme Shine Microfiber for the final wipe down of each cleaned section.”
A detailing clay bar feels just like, well, a wad of clay. It’s stiffer than Play-Doh but not as stiff as artist’s modeling clay. The material itself is a special formulation of ingredients, not dirt from the backyard, that give it wonderful properties but it feels just like clay to you and me.
If you have a perfectly smooth surface and you press a wad of clay against it the clay will conform to the surface, exactly matching the contour. If you spray a slippery liquid on the surface between it and the clay it forms a “fluid bearing” and the clay will glide effortlessly over the surface like wet ice on a granite countertop.
If the surface has some little blobs of crud stuck to it the clay will glide along until it hits those blobs. It will grab them and yank them off the surface or knock off their tips until they can be grabbed and yanked off. All the while the actual surface is protected by the fluid and completely unharmed. Whatever crud is pulled off gets stuck in the clay and taken away.
As it said in the description; “The clay bar safely traps and lifts off contaminants…”
so;
“is it like a even coat applicator?” – no, it’s like a wad of clay.
“Does it run out?” – it is reusable but will eventually get loaded to the point of needing replacement. How long it lasts depends on how much crud you remove with it.
“is it actually clay?” – not the plain old dirt kind but yes, it’s clay.
“is it similiar to a bar of soap?” - it’s about that size but it’s not solid, it’s formable, pretty stiff when cool, squishy when warm.

Thanks. I have another question. Where can I get this stuff, besides getting it online. I tried looking at PepBoys, AutoZone, and Kragen, all of them don't have it and I don't want to order online again, because I just ordered a bunch of stuff and if I do order again I will have to pay for shipping and handling, which *****, because I forgot to get clay, clean, and polish products...

If you have an o-reilly's auto part store they have them. I just recently bought mine and it's awesome!! I only had to use half of it and i clayed both mine and my gf's cars (we have the same car btw). It made the paint squeeky clean very smooth to the touch... If this is your first time claying...you can use soap and water with your clay aside from the QD since you need to spray the a lot on the area so it won't stick to the car and leave streaks..

Well as the clay bar lifts dirt off of your car, does the dirt stay on the clay or can you clean or remove the dirt from it? Also the quick clay detailer system comes with quick detailer and a clay, I've seen the quick detailer sold without the clay. I was wondering if that was the same quick detailer as the one in the quick clay detailer system?

The dirt will be permanently in the clay. When one side gets dirty, you sort of fold it over on itself, to expose clean clay.
The QD's are the same thing, just sold together for convienience.
If you cut the clay into 3-4 pieces, you may find the bottle that comes with the kit will run out first. You can buy the separate bottle, and it will do just the same.Last edited by Murr1525; Aug 6, 2005, 10:20 PM.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
