  • My First PC/Meg Detailing

Ok...getting ready to order products and do my first detailing. I have the PC7336 and will be ordering the Meg backing plate, pads, ultimate bonnets and wipes. I have a 2003 Trailblazer in Dark Grey Metallic and it is in good condition overall. I'm looking for a nice finish, but not over-doing the manual labor! Here is my plan.

    1. Wash with NXT wash.
    2. Do the clay bar step.
    3. Use one of the "80's" products
    4. Finish with the NXT wax.

My eyes are blurry from so many hours of reading posts on this site. I figure if my paint is in decent shape, this should provide a nice look without taking two days and having my arm fall off.

Any comments on my plan would be appreciated. Of course, I will have the MF wipes and proper washing mitt, etc. I'm just not sure what to use in step 3 or if this step is even needed.

Thanks in advance. Oh...I understand from Meg customer service that I must order the ultimate bonnets (6") by phone since they are no longer in the online store?????

    Is this for your vette?

I hear people say they have hard paint. You should put up some pics of what your paint looks like, people here will know if 83 or 80 should be used.

If I may Quote Mike: "The M9920 Ultimate Bonnet has been discontinued and it's replacement is the new 2-pack set, part number X4003"

I just got a couple packs of them with my last order and used one Sunday. Compared to the M9920 they're much more, orange. Actually, the M9920 wasn't at all orange, very white in fact (well, it was until I removed #9 from my single-stage black car anyway).

I believe they just haven't had a chance to update the website to add the new products.

Your plan looks good to me. If the paint is already nice condition it should turn out terrific. (Even if the paint were rough it would still look a lot better.)

This detailing is for a dark grey metallic Trailblazer...not a vette.

I note that detailed instructions posted elsewhere say to work a panel at a time for #80 and NXT wax. Must each panel be wiped off or buffed clean before going onto the next...or can I do the removal and buffing all at one time?

Thanks for the the new product number for the 6" ultimate bonnet.

if you are using the #80, the product should not be allowed to dry to a haze at any point. make sure to prep the pad if you using a buffer or something by spraying the pad with a quick detailer of your choice. apply #80 onto the pad into the shape of an X. keep applying the product as needed to not allow it to dry. as all other products, try to work in the shade and not in direct sunlight. apply the product into sizes of about one quarter the size of your hood. good luck! try to post before and after pictures

and how bad is your paint?? are the major swirls? any cobwebbing?? pictures will let us tell you which "80" product you need
