Have you removed the swirls in that car's paint yet? If so, sorry we couldn't make time... If not, let's do it.
As far as protection goes, often times, something is better than nothing. I've always applied wax to these coatings, it's never seem to hurt them, and we can only hope that at some level it has helped. A couple of days ago we applied NXT Tech Wax using the G100 to apply Tech Wax to this car
and it has a clear bra on the hood, chip guard on the lower panels, and black vinyl graphics to boot. We waxed everything it and came out looking...

Newport- I am an Xpel dealer so I've got your answer.
Compounds/Cleaners- Don't even think about it.
Polishes- LIGHT ones are OK. I've actually used #80 on mine in places. It's been on a year and I use it to show people what it looks like on a vehicle. They all HAVE to rub their hands on it for some reason so it gets pretty banged up. I've had it on a year and there is no marring that hasn't ben able to get out. Don't use anything more agressive than a finishing pad. Make sure you put a piece of tape over the edge so it won't catch on the pad.
For glazes/LSP's use as normal.
For basic maintenance, I usually use #81 with a coat of wax once a month. I also take a Qtip with some alcohol on it to clean out the edge.
You can use a PC up to a polishing pad. (Edge blue, LC white, Meg's Yellow) For general maintenance, use a finishing pad don't go past 5 on the speed. Only polish with a PC, do all glazing/lsp's by hand.
It seems to swirl a bit easier than paint because it's softer, but that's also why you don't want to get agressive with it.
To get bugs off, I just use APC 10:1. It doesn't stain it one bit. Bugs actually come off easier on the film than they do paint.
Also, be careful who you tell about it while they're around your car. People can't seem to resist rubbing their hands over to feel it no matter how much dirt is on it. And then they rub the paint to fell the difference.
If you go to www.xpel.com and enter your zip code, it will list all installers in your area. Call around a bit, they give us free reign over pricing. Some charge over $1000, others are more reasonable.
I have a clear bra on my car also (I supply and install these). I think it is one of the most versatile (not sure if that's the word to use) products for protecting your vehicle from stonechips, bugs, etc. I wax it when I do the rest of the car and definately nothing abrasive (as has been mentioned above).
Most clear bras are UV protected so that if you decide to take it off 5 years down the track, the paint finish underneath should be the same as the rest of the vehicle.
