Lucky for me I still have 3/4 of a gallon left and should hold me for a few more years.

I only use a touch less during the winter because they run $8 to $10 per wash. I get the cheapest wash that has the undercarriage wash then come back home and do a quick detail. So, I can in no way imagine going to a car wash and doing a touch less every week unless it was an unlimited wash for like $25 per month type thing. I don't see much of change in the bill during the winter. I did get some of the rinse less wash (ONR) and have been practicing with that so I can give that a shot this winter.
No kidding..how many gallons does it take to wash an average sized car? Let's say 6 gallons for your wash and rinse buckets. Two gallons to wet the vehicle down..and another 3 to rinse..add a fudge factor and call it 15 gallons...

17 or so to take a shower

Methods for using less water in the shower range from reducing shower time to collecting shower water for plants.

I'd rather stink for a day that take my car to any kind of automated car wash..

It is also about being environmentally responsible too. In the example above, that is 15 gallons of contaminated water hitting a watershed somewhere. Rinseless wash = little to no water hitting a water shed (outside of washing the MF towels).

          Re: Touchless Car Wash Question.

The only problem is that all of these approaches have their place and time, and sticking to one wash routine as "the way" is going to fail regularly due to weather, driving, etc. Sometimes a waterless wash with UWWA is the perfect solution, while other times, such as after driving in the rain, a bucket wash is necessary to get all the grime cleaned off. If I can't get that done due to time or whatever, a spray pressure wash stop is a way to meet halfway, then I follow with UWWA and/or QW. Touchless drive-thrus, though, are a very rare need for me, something I might only use if I couldn't find a spray wand coin op on a trip away from home, and I would immediately re-wax with QW. So, since I have lots of different weather to deal with, waterless alone will not work all the time, because after that rare run of weeks when it doesn't rain, grime builds up anyway, especially on the wheels, and has to be washed off, although it could be a long time during dry spells. What I've learned to live with is that every week is different, and requires different solutions to get cleaned up. Washing a bunch of possibly stained and matted mail-order-only SS towels too often is just as bad as using water to wash the car. Fortunately, in the Southeast, we can use the heavy rain to help regularly rinse a parked car. So, if I can avoid actually driving on wet roads for a stretch of weeks, even if it rains, I can use only UWWA and won't even have to wash the towels during that time. But then, the next day, I might get caught out with no choice but to drive on an interstate in the rain, and UWWA will only go so far

i was thinking that earlier, why can't you just use the tire shine products on the trim too. it seems like anything you can use to shine up rubber could be use on plastic too?
