  • Spiderwebbing :( Turtlewax wrecked my bonnet :(

So I finished up at the weekend with some cleaner wax.

I then saw some stone chips, deep ones that needed some colour so as I had some old turtlewax in green from years ago I went ahead and rubbed it into the bonnet (its colormagic)

I then followed up with a selant before it got dark

To my horror the next day it looks like i have spiderwebs all over the bonnet! This stuff I think has tcut in it and grains of what feels liek sand

So i ran over with the Ultimate compound and ultimate polish, but in direct sunlight it can still be seen. There is no filler in my sealant.

    Next steps??

Do you have a polisher (porter cable or otherwise)?

Is it just the hood (bonnet) that's messed up - with the rest of the car being OK? If so and you cant afford to get a proper polisher, it might be worth it to have a pro 'fix' just the hood and you take it from there.

Oh, and get rid of that T-Wax.

          yeah just the bonnet.

thrown that stuff away! saw amazon reviews and others said the same

Tempted in the megs drill bit orbital. I could go at it properly with a cutting compound of some kind from the pro range next time the wax is due

Also, if nxt has fillers in i may use that to top off

Good grief, I think you're confusing yourself, and us, with a lot of terms and products. Fillers in sealants? Turtle Wax compound creating spiderwebs? Why would you use TW compound when you have UC? Isn't UC a cutting compound? I think you should start over with a simple plan, or you'll get more and more frustrated with things. We've been trying to help with that.

Invest in a dual action polisher. The Meguiar's DA power system is nice but it's going to take you awhile to correct the hood. It has good power but nowhere near the power of a DA. Same can be said for comfort.

Waxes will fill to an extent. But they will not hide deep defects. M7 show car glaze will fill defects better than NXT.

                But both will be stella?

Planning on a polish/ glaze plus wax coat routine to keep it at the very least looking ok.

Over time, i preume say ultimate polish, will reduce the swirls over a long period?
