  • "Grabby" glass, any remedies?

Something really annoying I've always dealt with is when I'm cleaning my glass - especially the inside of the front and rear glass due to the pita spaces - the glass is really "grabby". What I mean by this is that it wants to hold on to the cloth. As I try to wipe away the cleaner, the glass is pulling the cloth out of my hand like its sticky.

I go from gliding like butter across the paint, to fighting tooth and nail with the glass. Super irritating and makes it difficult to get a good finish.

UQD helps make the glass more easy to work with, but it seems to leave behind invisible streaks that come out at night, like I'm looking through smudged glasses.

Is there any solution to this issue that won't leave a residue behind on the glass? I've been using perfect clarity cleaner, which cleans nicely but doesn't help at all with a "slicker" surface. Especially something I can use on the interior as well, since my dash and rear deck are kind of deep and is a full stretch to reach and wipe.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Not sure about the interior, but clay, paint cleaner like UC, glass cleaner, then RainX works well on extrrior.

Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere (UWWA) will change your life. After that, a quick wipe with your QW towel to remove any minor smearing. Glass will be very smooth and clean and shiny.

Use plain warm water. Get a microfiber towel (short pile) and wet it with warm water. Clean your interior window, and dry/shine with a drying microfiber towel. No grabbing, no streaks. Most of the streaking problem is from the glass cleaner, which leaves behind a residue, just begging to streak, grab, and catch dirt.

Alright, so I took some of your advice here. I've been detailing my own car for quite a few years but I always fought with the glass as described above. Not so much windows, but front and back glass.

I grabbed some UQW last night, and I wasnt sure if UC could be used on glass or if it would haze the glass.

So while I was doing the whole side of the car with UC on a yellow pad with my g110v2, I hit the windshield with the compound as well. It was interesting. I did the whole passenger side of the car prior and the pad was just pale yellow from the compound in the pad up until that point. I did the windshield, then, and man that pad turned dark! I didnt realize it was so crudded up.

Finished the compound, misted with the UQW and it's smooth as butter now, and slippery as hell. I didnt take it out tonight, but tomorrow I'll know how much I owe you guys if there arent any streaks! Thanks for your help!

I find UQW (D156) effective as an add to my (D120) glass cleaner. I pour an ounce in the spray bottle and add the D120 and water as usual. Interior glass becomes slippery smooth with no streaking or linting.

                Re: "Grabby" glass, any remedies?

Forget everything anyone has ever told you about streak-free windows and glass. I have tried everything including the "wonder" towels a vendor here sells as a "miracle"...forget them! Newspaper...no! Microfiber...no!

I have tried everything including the "wonder" towels. Nothing works but what I am going to share here. Use the below and forget it. I guarantee you will get perfect, streak free windows, both inside and out.

One very, very, very important key is NOT to wash your towels using fabric softener and Bounce Dryer sheets. These both contain oils which will get on your towels and smear the glass no matter what you do. You cannot have either of these products on your towels when you clean your windows.

Also, DO NOT use any glass cleaning towel when you are cleaning house. Any furniture spray, Pledge, etc., will not completely wash out of the towel leaving smears on your glass when you go to clean them. These tips are both MANDATORY or you will not have streak free windows!

SURGICAL BLUE HUSK TOWELS. These are incredible! You can get them for next to nothing on EBay. Used are fine. The older they get the better they work. I have some that are 20 years old and still work perfectly! Use them ONLY for your glass. If you use them with Armor All, Aerospace 303, etc., to clean your interior, all of the product will not wash out leaving you with smudges and streaks on your glass!

STONER INVISIBLE GLASS SPRAY. Available at Home Depot, Auto Zone, Checker Auto, Pep Boys, etc. About $6 a can.

STONER 95161 INVISIBLE GLASS REACH AND CLEAN TOOL. There are other brands out there. Griot's sells one as well. They are available on EBay. ONLY BUY ONE THAT HAS A TRIANGLE HEAD! Other companies make one with a square head. They use a blue microfiber bonnet. Do not use these...period!

This is it folks! The big secret is not to wash any towel in the washing machine with fabric softener. Don't ever use a Bounce Dryer Sheet in the dryer. Both of these contain oil which will smudge your windows! Don't believe me....go rub one of the dryer sheets between your fingers and feel the oil left behind.

Definitely forget buying one of those "miracle" cloths. WASTE!
