On the Kia, I've been able to use D143 as a spray on/hose off cleaner with great results even at the minimum dilution of 1:2 I'm guessing them being new and never neglected is what keeps them cooperative.

Works the same way on those tires which is good because it cleans them without removing the coating that's on them.

Coming along well. Already have some failures. Finally found some Ultimate Interior Detailer locally to try out. I may go pickup a piece of black vinyl from the local upholstry shop to do a better test.
The material on that old door card is worn in some spots and not others and is all around inconsistent for dressings depending on where they are applied.

You can spray wax if you desire. It's not going to cause the coating to fail or anything. You will hinder its properties with that of the topper just like anything else. But at the same time you will extend the life of the coating. A coating will degrade over time just not as fast as a wax or sealant. A soap like CarPro Reset can remove any waxes and get back to the base coating.

I've had my wheels coated since April and the coating is holding up just fine. I've never spray waxed them just to see how it holds up. A sealant would last me about 3 months.

The only topper I use with a coating is CarPro Reload since it is designed to be used with CarPro CQuartz/DLUX as a booster. But I don't have any experience with coatings outside of CarPro's product line.

Ultimate Interior Detailer, along with the Meguiars Foam Applicators are 2 items that I've never seen for sale at any store.

This is why I get confused when it comes to what to use on what..

Your rims look like chromed steel, not chromes clad. Some manufactures use aluminum rims to reduce weight however chrome plating does not stick very well or last long on aluminum. What has been done, and what I have, are the chrome clad rims. They take a plastic piece which has been formed to the shape of the rim, chrome it, and then attach it permanently to the aluminum rim. The clad chrome rims look just as good as chromed steel rims, but apparently if you get a nick in the chrome clad, it will not start to eventually peel which will happen to chrome steel. Steel rusts (plastic does not) and gets under the chrome.I had OEM chrome steel on my GM and within two years the chrome was pealing around the bead and I was losing air. This will not happen with my aluminum Chrome clads.

@Blueline. Oh yea I've seen those.. 1 of our good friends from TNOG has those kind of wheels on this new truck. I believe it's Randy aka Randmill. I'm pretty sure it's his truck, if not it's RE Clarke's truck.

Every time I'd see that truck I couldn't believe those wheels were actually plastic because they look so good.

As far as my wheels, I just banged the sidewalk while making a sharp turn about 4 days ago and chipped a good shard of chrome off 1 of my wheels. Cringe moment, but oh well, it happens.

Pep Boys had the UID on the shelf. Grabbed that and some M305 yesterday. I've never seen the foam applicators on shelves either. Those would be handy to be able to pick up locally in a bind. Although I do like a different applicator a bit more as it doesn't have a seam to it.

Sorry about the hijacking Blueline. Back on topic:
Most OEM chrome plating in general is likely to flake in my opinion. A quality chrome place can handle doing aluminum properly without it flaking in a couple years, but it is much more costly, and time consuming than what OEM's use. It also isn't a very environmentally friendly process and there are fewer and fewer places able to do proper chrome anymore.

Speaking of... I need to find such a place since my local one shut down due to new EPA regs. Gotta get some copper plating done for some parts on the CC

So that explains why we see less and less vehicles with factory chrome rims these days... Since you figure most cars are trying to be lighter, thus having aluminum wheels. That *****, I really like chrome rims.

Ohhh., that hurts.
I would put a couple of dabs of silver paint on that rash to keep the steel from rusting and getting under your chrome.

The coating we are talking about in this thread are for paint and wheels only. Tire coating products are a whole other discussion.

I only really have experience with one paint coating. CQuartz. It works great but is a bit difficult to apply if you have never done it.
