  • Catch me up...

So after a couple of deployments and a couple of kids, I'm trying to get back in the detailing game. What's everyone using for DA pads these days? I see Meguiar's has some new thin pads out, and I did buy the DAMF system a couple years ago and still haven't unwrapped it. Did I hear they changed the Microfiber pads last year too? So are mine from a few years ago already obsolete?
I've got about 10 of the 6.5" Soft Buff pads as well, but it seems as though the thinner pads are the new rage.
    Thanks!

Trends come and go. I love MF over foam. Maybe the thin ones are better than the thick, but it seems foam just gets chewed up and soppy with product and isn't as aggressive or effective on hard paint. Foam should be better for soft paints or for light polishing and wax spreading, but MF can do all that, as well. Others will respond and praise the foam, though. It's like wax vs sealant

Pick up the new foam discs. The cutting pad can cut just as well as a microfiber cutting pad and finish better. They work fine on hard paints as well. For those paints that are extremely hard then yes microfiber would be the way to go.

Just remember to use the least aggressive method. Foam is the least aggressive of the two. But that doesn't mean that foam can "cut" it.

I don't know what machine or backing pate size you have.
