  • SS Paint, polishing and removing oxidation

Hello everyone I have a few questions I guess.
I have a 96 miata that is Single Stage Paint.( so i assume its metallic single stage) There is some oxidation on parts of the car I would like to remove. That being said I have a few parts but I think i might need different products.
here are the steps I was going to take if anyone have different suggestions that would be better for single stage please let me know. The car does have light swirls that I would like to correct as well.

I have a da polisher with orange, white and black pads.
    1) Wash car (2 bucket method)
    2) Clay the entire car
3)polish meguiars m205 with either orange or white depending on the test spot. worst case scenario go with m105. (Im thinking about getting meguiars ultimate compound instead of using either 105/205 on single stage paint)
4)Using alot of meguiars m07 and leaving over night and putting on as much application as possible.
5)top it all off with wax

Now my questions Should I use m07 before or after I use m105/m205 for correction?
The other Thing I here is leaving m07 overnight helps saturate the paint? The problem is I dont have a garage and leaving overnight will at least have a small layer of pollen. I dont think I can wipe it off? Should I just hose it off? Put QD and then wipe off?
I have heard using m80 after m07 is a good idea. Problem I cant find m80 locally or even find it with 16 or 32oz bottles online as well. Can i substitute m83 or m82 instead of m80 to remove oxidation or light swirls or anything? thanks again for the answers?

You would compound, polish, then use #7. If you do decide to use Ult Compound and Ult Polish, Ult Polish has a lot of the polishing oils that #7 has and it worked very well on my '06 single stage paint without a compounding step or using #7

Re: SS Paint, polishing and removing oxidation

Okay thank you for the response. I think Im going to pick up both the Ult Compound and Ult Polish and do least aggressive to see if that works or not.
But I would still like to use m7 right before the lsp. The major thing leaving this on the car. As the car is parked outside pollen gets on top and I have fear of just wiping it off.
Should I just hose it off dry and apply lsp? or can i use quick detailer spray it down and then wipe it off? and reapply if necessary?

Re: SS Paint, polishing and removing oxidation

The #7 saturating the paint thing is usually more about a very dried out paint, and the #7 is left on for a while to moisten it up and make it workable again. That would be after washing, but before the compounding/polishing.

So after the UC and UP, you should already be after that point, unless the UC was acting real funny.

You can certainly use #7 after the Ult. Polish if desired, but would just be more of an apply and remove like usual at that point.
