  • Car show coming up...

...and I have a dusty car! I recently washed, polished, and waxed my black car and stuck it back in the garage where it has been sitting for the past couple of weeks un-driven and getting dusty. I'm going to be getting back from Australia Wednesday night, working Thursday and Friday, and the car show is on Saturday.

What's the best way of freshening it up quickly without introducing any fine scratches to the black paint? Time is at a premium as I also need to vacuum and wipe down the interior. I'll probably wait until I'm at the show to apply Ultimate Black to the exterior and under-hood plastics.

I'm not sure what you have at your disposal but either a rinsless wash or 2 bucket wash followed up with some ultimate quik wax would be good.

Well, we've already answered this question in at least one other thread, but in this situation, a "California" duster might be the perfect first step, followed with minor touch ups of QW, especially using that towel to catch the dust at the edges.

If it's only very light "garage dust" then I use a California Duster (very carefully), followed by a QD.

Anything heavier than that, you may have to use D115, or a 2 bucket wash.

Where abouts in Australia are you visiting?

*EDIT* just realised that this is an older thread and you are probably back home by now. I could have shown you around!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Davey, I was in Sydney! I absolutely loved it! What a beautiful and clean city! We stayed at the Amora down town near the Rocks and we're able to walk everywhere. I fell in love with Harry's Cafe de Wheels. I was disappointed that the only Ford Falcons I saw were taxis! LOL

Wipe down with some D115 Rinse Free Express Wash n Wax and some 500-700 GSM plush towels and your good to go, clean and that freshly waxed look.

                  Doh! Maybe next time..

There are still quite a few Falcons about, but yeah most of them are taxis. They will cease production soon though, along with our beloved Holden Commodore.
