Yeah? I didn't know that. That really is a crazy dilution rate. I think that would make HW more economical that D111 (Shampoo Plus).

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

One thing I would love to eventually have in mygarage would b a meguirs selector machine. Then I wouldn't have to worry bout dilution ratios and the ease of refilling bottles. Not that it's a lot of work but just a coo afterthght is all.

Yeah it's very economical All one needs is 1 ounce in 4 gallons of water for a 2 bucket wash.

Someone posted this on Autogeek. It's a good reference table.

I hadn't seen that table until now but it's solid^

I've read several posts online where people have questioned the accuracy of the measurements on several kinds of bottles. I totally agree.

Re: Had to try out my new foam cannon and share with you all

Yesterday, here in California, Governor Jerry Brown imposed a mandatory 25% reduction in water usage by individuals, business, municipalities, etc effective immediately. Foam cannons may be fun, but they use a huge amount of water compared to traditional washes, and a ridiculous amount more than rinseless or waterless washes. They are also pretty inefficient time wise, which is why you don't see many pro detailers using them as a matter of course. (They do seem to be quite popular in the UK for some reason though) Shops that do a lot of cars in a day can't live with the extra time it takes to wash with a foam cannon. I will admit to having used one in the past, but I always found that the amount of water required to fully rinse the foam from the car, and the associated time, was a bit annoying.

I rarely even pull out the hose and bucket any longer, opting instead to keep a bucket in the garage set up and ready to go with a D114 mix and a stack of folded microfiber towels. A gamma seal on the bucket keeps it from evaporating, and mixing up 3 gallons of solution means I can wash my car maybe half a dozen times or more - with a TOTAL of 3 gallons of water!!!

Re: Had to try out my new foam cannon and share with you all

I heard about the 25% reduction yesterday (I'm in Orange County). This morning my shower was 3 minutes shorter! I thought about the waste of water associated with foam cannons, and even your standard 2 bucket wash. One idea I had was to use a 5-10 gal water tank, filled with DI water, so I'm not using the city's water.

But, I think I'll stick to using rinseless washing mostly. I prefer it as it's far less wasteful, and I have more control of the "water flow." I usually use just under a gallon on average. I buy distilled water from Albertsons, mix in my solution, and use the solution as needed. I'll do like 2-3 towels at a time, til the car is clean. Store the rest of the solution for next time.

I'll hold off on foam cannons for now.

Re: Had to try out my new foam cannon and share with you all

Yeah I think we all heard about the water restrictions. I have done mostly rinseless all of 2014 and I am doing the same for 2015. The only time I bust out the foam cannon is if I am going to do some type of paint correction when using ironx on my personal cars. Other than that I will stick to either D114 or a 2 bucket wash if the car goes too long without being washed.

In my area the state has already issued what days water can be used to wash or water the lawns. They have been issuing fines as well in the South Bay area.

It's a tough situation. But the good thing is we will all be rinseless pro's

That answers what I was wondering is there an advantage, cleaner car or saved time to getting a foam cannon. I guess not too mutch and they are talking about saving water here too. Really it depends if you have good neighbors that dont report you wasting water. Maby let them borrow your foam cannon and nobody will call. LOL

Thanks for posting that chart Michael...good stuff! I printed it out, laminated it, and hung it by where I mix my products up.
