  • I was told i was crazy by uncle.

Just need some sweet words to reply to being call crazy. My uncle saw me using some GC Q/D on my car while I was down at his house this weekend. He ask was it wax and I told him no he said that my car was new and all it need was some Joy or Dawn dishwashing soap.I told him "H$$$" NO! and my sister told him that I will never put any dishwashing soap on my car and she know not to put any on hers. They he said you 2 are crazy to put your money into some B.S. call car washing shampoo and conditioner. He told us to go home and use it wash our hair because it's shampoo and conditioner.I then told him when I get a DA I will do his car .He told me again that his car use Dawn and Joy..His paint look bad.Just a funny story to me I wanted to share ..I know many of us have some funny story to share and I would like to hear some..I plan on give him a box of steel wool and some Dawn or Joy and tell him that is a year worth of car washing..lol...hahahaha

"His paint look bad" This is KEY, Keep reminding him of this and point out without any protection his paint is being damaged by the sun. Tell him to keep on keeping on and smile alot. Its nice of you to offer to do his car, sadly few people will appreciate the difference a real detail will make. If you get his jaw to drop you may win him over. Good Luck

Why don't you do a 50/50 in a square in the middle of his bonnet. Just say it can't be any worst then what it is and tell that it will show what a waste of time your detailing talent is.

Winter time was rolling around and I was looking for my snow clearing tools in dad's garage and couldn't find them. He said, here use this and handed me a plastic shovel! I was like: heeeeeeeelllls no! It's too bad because my pops car has great paint (gunmetal grey toyota matrix) and still looks decent with all the neglect it gets. Not everyone is into microfiber and grit guards!

I've even heard people say, "That's why I buy white or silver cars, because they don't get dirty!", and "Of course, you know that washing it just washes the black paint right off, don't you?"

My answers to people like that range from, "So, I guess you don't wash your dishes or sheets, either?" to "You aren't making the payments for me now, are you?" to "I'm sure you don't want me to make fun of your hobbies, right?"

Friends, family, and neighbors just react out of laziness and jealousy. I know people who NEVER wash their cars, so just the fact of me washing any car at all is some kind of insult to their excuses. I try to let it be their problem and not mine

The problem with the whole "his paint looks bad" thing is that HE doesn't see it that way. This could be the perfect time to educate him on what good paint really looks like though!

Bingo! If that doesn't sway him, nothing will.

Our Saturday Classes are about teaching proper paint care, but they're also about changing perceptions. After having a Corvette club attend a session, we got an email from one of the guys the following week. He said that when he arrived Saturday morning he thought his Vette looked pretty darn sweet, but by the time he left he realized how much work it really needed. We changed his perception, and KIA HYBRID just might be able to do the same with his uncle.

And if he doesn't like how much better you made it look then he can wash it with Dawn

Re: I was told i was crazy by uncle.

I used to have a silver car.....and used whatever dishsoap was under the sink to wash it. It was never waxed, and after six years it looked as good as my (new back then) black car, that got groomed (clay, polish, wax, etc. etc. AND more etc.) every so often. This was side by side in the driveway, from a few feet away. Wax critics would probably see some differences. I swore I would never buy another black car but when I traded the silver one....it seems I now have two black beauties that demand a aforementioned grooming or they look like ****. If I didn't have all the time in the world, (one can only golf so much) I would have two silver cars, and buy a case of Dawn. So if the Uncle is happy with the look of his vehicle, so be it. Maybe he has better things to do. We will be content to be slaves to ours.
