  • Newbie here - scratched navigation screen

I think I scratched the anti-glare coating of BMW navigation screen - do you know what product I can use?

    Any suggestions or solutions?

I really prefer not to strip the whole anti glare coating and putting a cover over it

Try something oily, like a polish or a protectant, with light pressure. You only need the oils to soak in and smooth out the screen. If it doesn't work, no harm done.

      Welcome to MOL!!!

You sent me an email with this same question yesterday and I didn't have a chance to respond to it yet, but I'd much rather respond here. This way your question helps others as well, and that's what MOL is all about.

Unfortunately, the anti glare coating on nav screens is not something that can be polished without removing more of the material. And attempting to polish in a small area, as in the case of a scratch, will only remove more material and potentially make the problem look even worse. There is a very slim chance that a light coat of wax will help to hide the scratch a bit, but that might be all you really can do. Ultimate Quik Wax spray does a very nice job of hiding fine scratches in paint, so you might want to give that a try before doing anything else. Don't spray it directly onto the nav screen, though, as you have much better control by spraying onto a folded microfiber towel and wiping onto the screen. Go light, and maybe apply a couple coats to see if that helps. No guarantees here as this is not really what the product was designed for, but given some of its properties it's certainly worth a shot.

thanks gentlemen - I really hope that helps

Another suggestion was to place a lexerd screen protector which might hide the scratch and prevent future

Not sure how you would fix it other than using a screen protector for protection. But if you just want to keep it clean quik interior detailer is the way to go.

Sorry to bump an old thread Mike but I just wanted to share that a thin coat of Ultimate Liquid followed by Ultimate Quick wax reduced my fine scratch by about 90%

Unfortunately ive been on the search for a fix on my brand new Lincoln's touch screen. The sun hit the screen just right the other day to show me a scratch that my eyes cant forget about. I figured a Carnuba would be best but I was wrong. Again your Ultimate product line served a purpose it really was not intended for.

I will say this if meguiars develops a product to minimize and reduce scratches it will SELL. There are 100's of 1000's of threads and people asking about this. Hopefully your formulators can dabble up something for the future!!

(side note, Ultimate is stunning on white platinum)
