    Re: Gravel dust... Ideas?

next time wash it properly and not make mud on your car and then wipe it off.

A duster will do a good job if your car is waxed

Using a coating will help too

and lyering is a waste of time and money

"Ultimate" is not the choice for all situations. Matching product lines is a pro tip.

If you use a carnauba or carnauba blend wax, like #26 or Gold Class or Deep Crystal, using Ultimate Detailer defeats the purpose. You'd use Gold Class Quik Detailer, or a detailer in the same line as your wax if Meg's makes it (otherwise choose based on carnauba/blend vs synthetic). Same goes vice-versa, of course. You also need to match the car wash and waterless wash or anything else you spray or wipe atop your wax job - they're all extensions of your wax choice. So, every time you wash or waterless wash or detail or touch up, over the months and months until your next full DA correction, you're re-protecting with the same "look".

This is also why it doesn't matter whatsoever how long someone claims a particular wax lasts or doesn't last. First of all they're wrong, but regardless, you'll be re-waxing the car every few days, effectively, by using quik wax.

I see where you are coming from and agree to a point. M26 offers the best of both worlds and it responds well to wither ultimate detailer or the standard detailer. I myself have used M135 and D155 on M26 and both worked fine. I just prefer the hydrophobic characteristics of M135. The effects of a QD don't last long so the way I see it, it does not matter what you use. Same goes for a car wash soap or a waterless wash. The wax within them does not have a lasting effect. To an ordinary consumer it doesn't matter. They usually prefer shiny. For those of us on here we may or may not see a difference. But it doesn't hurt to try different combinations and of course all meguiar's products work with each other. So it comes down to personal preference.

Aplogies to the OP as this thread was taken in another direction. But you got some good tips from some good folks to help you avoid this next time and continue keeping your car looking great.
