    Re: Gold Class Leather Care

Yes James, I meant I apply it liberally, like a lotion, and especially on the driver's seat or high wear places. I use a cotton rag, and rub just enough to spread the product around. It will soak in and evaporate, etc. I don't use it very often, either, maybe once every six weeks or so. Sometimes I use Ultimate Protectant on various other parts.

I agree with Davey. It looks like the RAM handle is not leather, but some sort of complimentary fabric. My door panel tops and dashboard, etc are like that, a lizard-skin naugahide or something in my case. The stitched parts on either side look like regular automotive leather, which still might not be true leather (unless you're driving a Bentley or Ferrari). The GC Rich Leather product is fine on these faux and semi-leather fabrics, I've found. It tends to oil stain on plastic, though.

Only thing I can think of is if it's not leather perhaps it's more plastic/rubber based. If that's the case you may want to try something like quik detailer + natural shine.

        Top Gear,

Thank you for the input. I actually contacted Dodge today trying to find out what material it is exactly. I haven't heard anything yet (not sure I ever will). I tested it last night with water and a microfiber rag. It did the exact same thing transferring color. Interestingly, the dash, which is also stated to be "leather" does not color transfer at all. The tops of the door do transfer but very little. The seats and center console do not transfer any color at all. I agree that the handle must be something else. The "grain" now appears smooth in the areas I treated.

Overall, I like the GC Leather Care. I guess I'll just have to go easy with it and use it liberally. Question, in the event the dash is not 100% leather, is it still okay to use the GC Leather Care/Conditioner on it (or other leather-ish surfaces)? Thanks for your help.

          The Guz,

I agree with you. I am thinking this is not 100% leather. It seems almost rubbery now that I've removed some of the finish with the product. I hope to get some answers from Dodge. The Longhorn seats seem much more like "real" leather. Real to me at least...someone told me that they're most likely vat-dyed which does not transfer color as easily. Thanks for your help.

              The Guz,

Thanks for checking in. Unfortunately, no updates. I've called corporate three times now. They keep telling me it's been sent to a "technical adviser." I hope to have an update soon.
