Re: Will using Ultimate Compound work good for polishing new Lacquer paint?

Your welcome. That original post is quite old, I'm not sure the size limits are valid anymore. Most computers these days have a horizontal resolution of at least 1024. The forum website may autosize pics anyway.

I'll have to do some tests when I don't have a bottle of Meguiar's in my hand

p.s. You can also upload photos here to YOUR GALLERY (look for Gallery on the Toolbar), copy your photo's link and insert that link.

OOPS... you already figured that out:

Thanks for your help Stephan. I figured out how to get the pictures into the gallery, but had not yet figured out how to post them. I think with your help I got that figured out also:

Wow, looks like you've been working hard. Hood is looking pretty clear.

Are you going to get some Ult Polish on there after the UC is all done? UP is based on 205.

Re: Will using Ultimate Compound work good for polishing new Lacquer paint?

I think I have around 12 or more hours in sanding and polishing so far... Arms are wore out. Had to spot paint some of the rear quarters again. Poor prep work under paint, and then I sanded through. Waiting for that to cure for two weeks before I finish back half of car.
This is not going to be a show car, but I still want it to look respectable
I may try the ultimate polish if I can find it. I have a 15 year old bottle of show car glaze I was thinking of trying, but I am not sure if it is still good. I am also paranoid of anything sealing the paint before it finishes the cure process, so I will look into what ever product I use next to make sure I don't mess up what I have done so far. If I understand correctly, I will be okay with polish but not sealers and waxes as was posted earlier in the thread.

Bill, I will post some pictures of the finished car as soon as I can get it all put back together.

Thanks again for all your help everyone.

Polish is fine, no wax or sealants.

I love #7 show car glaze!!! Use it every time. 15 years old? hmmm...

It's mostly oils, but if you haven't shaken it over the years there may be a bunch of junk sediment at the bottom of the bottle. That would not be good. #7 is pure polish, but won't remove any defects created by using the compound. If there aren't any, more power to ya.

            Get some rest.

Just Ulitimate Compound so far. Great product!

It is going to be a pain keeping the paint decent until I can wax it..
This is my daily driver, and winter is getting here fast!
Any recommendations on something I could use to help protect it a little while the paint finishes curing?

#80 has some paint protective properties...

I would get some Ultimate Quick Wax and go over it until you can do it, that should hold it over.

The idea is to not wax fresh paint for 90 days or so...

Oh I know, but with nothing at all on it and it being a daily driver....

Why I recommended UQW, just spray it on and wipe it off as a patch....

Being a freshly painted car, I would use either deep Crystal Polish, M07, M80 to enhance the shine and allow out-gassing of the paint, avoid any wax or any wash and wax. For dust removal, avoid UQD since the polymers in it can hinder the out-gassing process. I would use the original quik detailer or last touch quick detailer.
