2008 Mustang GT/CS
Had a run in with a dimwit that had his lawn mower turned the wrong way. Put 6-7 chips in the right side along the passenger door and rear quarter panel in addition to a small a chip on the side glass. The cost to repaint both panels, glass and vinyl side stripe was estimated at $1200. The lawn mower operator would be paying for this, not me. My question though is whether it is worth it? I could try to touch up the rock chips (Though I'll always be able to tell) Should I have any concerns about getting a third of the car pulled apart and repainted? I could do a touch up and live with it. On the other hand, there is one particular spot that was touched up very poorly by the previous owner that exists on the same panel that I would be repairing. Clearing that up would be a plus.
I worry about being able to tell that it has been repainted when looking at the rest of the car. I am probably the only one that will ever notice those chips. This is a daily driven car that just hit 50K miles. No panel on the car is completely devoid of imperfections. One day, I was planning on having it entirely re-sprayed so I was willing to live with some touched-up chips. Being offered a free respray of two panels has led to quite the dilemma tonight....
Should I have any additional concerns with matching since it is a metallic paint?
