  • I am a total believer in UC and UP now!

Not being new to Meguiar's products, I have been using them for years, but I just tried UC and UP for the first time and am a total believer. I have a black '09 Acura TL SHAWD Tech. When I bought it from the dealer, in November of 12, I would have sworn there were no scratches, swirls, etc. Three weeks later I saw them all. They must have used some sort of cover up wax or polish. So I decided to do a 1' x 1' spot on my hood (I had a few scratches). I used the quick detailer (red bottle), then went to work with a microfiber pad and put on the UC. I did this about two times with 4 passes about 50% overlap each pass. I then wiped off with a good microfiber towel. I then did the same with the ultimate polish. Finally I used some quick wax (red bottle) and let it dry. I buffed it off, removed the painters tape, another spraw with the quick detailer and wow! By hand the small section looked great. I am sure it will be way better with the DA. Well now it is time for me to do the car the correct way. I am about to purchase a G110V2 and a couple of the polishing and finishing pads. From what I read so far and after the clay and two bucket wash method I am going to use a yellow polishing pad (w8207) with the UC with moderate pressure and speed 4-5. Next I am going to use the gray finishing pad (w9207) on setting 3-4 with the UP with moderate pressure. Finally, using a different gray finishing pad (w9207) on setting 2-3 I am going to use the ultimate liquid wax. I am not sure there is a next step, but I anticipate my car to look better than show car new. I really would appreciate any comments that you all would give. Thanks - Chip

    Sounds like a good plan.

When you say "gray" finishing pad, I assume you mean the black?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

You will love the Maguire's G110v2. The build quality is great. I would purchase 2 yellow polishing pads and one black pad.. I would use one yellow pad for UC and the other yellow pad for UP.. The black pad would use for your favorite wax. When you done with this project, your car is going to look better then when it left the lot. I would check out Auto geek and join there forums. Many discount and specials are only advertised to forum members. Here is an Auto geek coupon code "AMAZON10". Can't be used on the DA, but can be used on other items they sell.

Quick Polishing tips: Polish when paint is cool to touch, other wise you will be struggling to wipe product off. Mist the yellow pad occasionally when doing paint correction only. This helps to keep the product from drying out on pad. Junkman videos explain this more in detail. And last thing purchase a Gallon of Last Touch concentrate $19.99. This will be your clay Lubricant.

Yep, chiptouz, I'm a recent new believer, too I did mine about two months ago with a Porter Cable, following the videos here, and was astounded at the results, topping with Gold Class. I keep it clean and boosted with GC QD & GC QW. BTW, make sure you try Ultimate Black for your plastic/rubber trim, which is even more amazing, in some ways!

goldenlight - How often do you change/clean pads during the UC and UP process? Should I really buy 4 of the yellow and 2 of the black? If not and I should just clean them how long does it take and what products to use in the cleaning process? Thanks Chip
