yep, I got one. got a pretty good deal at amazon. haven't ordered the swirlx yet (halfords doesn't carry it) but I have some deep crystal polish.. should I just go ahead and get the swirlx now?

It wont hurt anything to only get one now and do a test spot with it.

And the DC Polish is just oils, so no correction ability there.

You got a Dual Action Polisher?
If your getting that then go with M105/Ultimate compound or like I said before M66/Cleaner Wax.
Myself, I would defiantly try a Cleaner Wax first. Don't just jump right into paint correction. Try cleaner wax first to get the hang of the DAp.

I personally think M66/ Megs yellow pad or similar via DA would do the trick on those swirls, worked great on my buddy's dark gray G37 with similar swirls

Halfords only seems to carry the more basic products (ultimate compound etc). cant get any of that 66 stuff on ebay or anywhere else in UK but I can get the 105 stuff.

how do all these products differ? as a newbie its a bit confusing with all the different products.

update, found that chart. so its a question of how aggressive a product you want? I also have some scratchx 2.0 which i used on door handle scuffs. ( I used a white microfibre pad and did a few applications. it improved it but did not completely remove them)

just looked at the Halfords site. Get all the Ultimate Line stuff (and all the Meg's stuff) and you'll be fine. Lot's of people love this stuff. It's a "watered down" version of the Pro line for the average consumer. So it's made for you!

not sure what you mean about the ultimate line stuff, got a link to it?

I might get this one to start with then work up to UC if unsuccessful.

                    Meguiars Ultimate Compound 450ml
                    Meguiars Ultimate Polish 473ml
                    Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax 473ml

These three products will do you fine.

And that cleaner wax has been around for decades and just might be your ticket. So yes start with that.

okay, here are the results.. I used ultimate polish first then went up to ult. compound DAP setting 5.

definite improvement. some areas of the car still need work but for me its a gradual process.. every time I wash the car I'll get it better and better.

                        before..

                        how'd I do?

Looks like an improvement to me.

Is that with just the UC, and not followed back up by the Ult. Polish?

I washed the car couple of days ago, gave the ult. polish a try. was too late to do any more so today I went back out armed with the ult compound. no plish afterwards though.

Polishing oils could hide small defects, but looks like the worst things are cleaned up.

A polish and wax next time should have it looking fantastic.

still gotta get thin scratches off the boot (trunk) handle and then there's the roof.. any recommendations for how to polish a roof panel?

tried polishing already with a step ladder. sports cars owners clearly don't have this problem..
