    Tree Sap

    A friend of mine who I have been detailing with out of his mechanic garage, needs me to remove large amounts of tree sap.....So I will be detailing the exterior of this car while he does the interior. What can I use to quickly and efficiently remove large amounts of tree sap? I have the detailer line body solvent, and can pick up some denatured alcohol or anything really needed....I have to do this Thursday night. I will most likely end up compounding the swirls and scratches out of the paint with #105 or #85 and a wool pad(rotary applied), then #205 or optimums hyper polish on a microfiber pad and da, followed by 21 or opti seal.....Any tips or help would be great Thanks

    Alcohol or glass cleaner is where I would start. Then claying after.

      Failing that, the Body Solvent should take care of it...

        Turpentine is the best solvent for tree sap. It is distilled from tree sap and will remove it easily. Be sure to get real turpentine and not mineral spirits.

          Agree with the use of turpentine.

          Kerosene is also an option.

            Will turpentine harm the clear/paint in anyway? Do you need to neutralize it after use?

            I just had a car with sap all over it and used Megs paint cleaner and a white polishing pad with my GG Polisher and it took it off. This was fresh sap not though.

              I just did a car with the most tree sap collection I have ever seen. The hood, roof and windows all were very covered in sap. To my surprise Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover pulled this stuff up no issue and is clear coat safe. I don;t usualyl go for their stuff, but this stuff is super cheap, easy to find and effective. I just sprayed it on, let sit briefly worked with a MF towel.
