Which part of your vehicle do you neglect the most?
Re: Which part of your vehicle do you neglect the most?
Interior! It is constant battle with kids trashing it. Moreover, my belly make interior cleaning a difficult job. I guess I also neglect my health too.
Re: Which part of your vehicle do you neglect the most?
The roof has had CC failure since I got the car, so I have made sure to wax it often to slow the CC failure down. It seems to have worked, 18 months later and it doesn't seem to be progressing anymore.
The part I take care of the least has to be the sides. It is hard to tell when they need waxed as they always seem to bead/sheet water well. I also occasionally drop my wax applicator when waxing the sides so I tend to avoid waxing the sides. Lately I have been a bit better about waxing the sides of the car, but still am not perfect.
I would think "detailing" would encompass the entire vehicle, as in paying attention to details. Taking care of the shinny part only, is neglecting some of the most important parts of a vehicle. The thing is anyone can be a "detailer", but not every one can care for a vehicle mechanically. Nice vehicle...the calipers would look very good in red.
Alright you've got me on your side now. I would agree it is detailing for the same reason you gave. Also, thanks! I definitely need to get motivated to paint them red...
That is a good question. I believe "detailing" means maintaining what you have, whether thats applying wax to the finish or painting the undercarriage. Taking pride in your vehicle and maintaining the vehicles condition would be "detailing" in my definition.
By the way, which paint do you use in your undercarriage?
I neglect the roof because by the time I am done with the rest of the vehicle I am too lazy to jump into the bed and clean the roof. Maybe I should do this step first.
The paint I squirt the undercarriage with is just a low gloss engine enamel.

So far it looks like the roof is neglected the most, but not much. I would have to agree with door jams. I normally spray UQD in the jams but I do not officially wash them, ever. The inside of the windshield is probably another area I neglect. It is a real pita to clean the inside windshield.

In my opinion, the horizontal panels are more crucial than the vertical ones. Water and contaminants tend to slide off from the vertical panels easily if the car is well waxed.
I read here that some of you wax under the hood. I never did this, not sure if the wax would last in extreme heat inside the engine compartment. Also, my car has a hood mat which covers most of the underhood area.

I agree completely. I just detailed a car and the horizontals were terrible.

Re: Which part of your vehicle do you neglect the most?
Door jambs, lower portion of the front bumper, and the front grills. The lower portion of the bumper is a bit neglected, but at least i do get to dry it most of the time. My car has a mesh like or honey comb pattern front grill and it can be a hastle to clean thouroughly. On our SUV, yes the roof is a bit neglected but the rest is a bit Ok.
Re: Which part of your vehicle do you neglect the most?
I chose interior.
I wouldnt say that I neglect the interior just dont spend as much time on it. I always keep in clean and with the harsh Vegas sun I am more worried about protecting the paint than the interior. The reason I say that is because all the windows are tinted and when I park the car the sun shade automatically goes up and the sunroof is vented. I also use the thick cardboard style shade to keep the sun out. So the interior is pretty well protected.

Can someone please confirm if we shlould wax under the hood, maybe around the hood mat?

Thanks.
I cant really say as I have never done it with a traditional wax. I have done it with a spray wax just because im OCD but I really see no benefit from it.
