Here's my final update for those who made suggestions and comments: I purchased a spray bottle and misted my car with a small amount of water and buffed with a clean MF towel. It helped a lot. I can't remember where I read this tip, but if anyone mentioned it here, thanks!
It is, however, somewhat disheartening that I have to do this at all. And to only see the oily smears after a QD or wash is just a huge bummer
