Yeah but if you closely look at the pics again you will notice this is not a deep scratch or anything. It's almost like a haze that cannot be removed.

At this point what would you recommend?

My recommendation; Chrome Wheels Skins. They fit over your existing wheels, look like factory chrome, easy to install and easy to maintain.

Yes, I'm back from the Barrett-Jackson Auctions in Arizona now. As we alluded to in our previous post, the damage that has been caused by improper use of the product is most likely not going to be a do it yourself fix. From what you've described as pretty aggressive applications of UC by hand and that this is having no impact on the appearance, we're sort of left with the very real possibility that the wheels need to be stripped, lightly polished and then re-cleared. That long dwell time you allowed, contrary to the directions on the bottle, has most likely stained so deeply into the clear coat that refinishing is the only real fix here.

Let's be realistic here. I didn't go have dinner while cleaning my rims. This is the first product I've tried that caused this amount of damage in a very short period of time. I hate to say it, but I'll need to stay away from Meguiars. I have no other option.

It was you who said you left it on the wheels for several minutes, but the instructions on the bottle say to do so for 15 seconds. That is a huge difference and far outside the recommended use of the product. We hate that this damage has occurred, but you have to understand that when any product is used incorrectly, especially to this extent, there is very little we can do other than offer some suggestions that might help the situation. Sometimes a user makes a mistake that might seem pretty innocuous at the time but that actually has far greater consequences. Unfortunately this appears to be one of those cases.

That's a bold statement. To discredit an entire brand because you failed to follow the instructions. I am quite sure that other brands of wheel cleaner would have had the same results had they been left to dwell for several minutes. I use Megs WB on very dirty wheels and always make sure the wheel is cool and hosed down before I apply, then agitate and rinse immediately.

The average consumer places their trust in a company they choose to do business with. You represent Meguiar's so whatever you say is also how your company feels. Your sarcasm isn't helping Mike. I also think Meguiar's should Go Green with products like this so this poorly advertised wheel cleaner cannot harm anyone else's rims.

                    Here's a suggestion:
You should include a time clock along with this wheel cleaner so people can wait exactly 15 seconds or their wheels are permanently damaged. How foolish is that hey? 25 yrs of cleaning 10 cars that I've owned....this is the first product that I can honestly say FAILED.

I will gladly take my business elsewhere. Your attitude a sarcasm in this forum is not only unprofessional but very disrespectful.

                      Btw

Meguiars is also known for making defective spray bottles. Every single Meguiar's product that I purchased with a spray bottle ....failed each and every time.

                      Quality products/service...?
                      I beg to differ.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience dinosaur1. But having read the hole thread I didn't detect any sarcasm from Michael Stoops. He was just stating the facts as you expressed them - 8 minutes dwell time. far too long. It's important to follow the directions on a given product or serious unintended consequences follow. The worst are with wheel cleaners as they the most caustic products used in car care. As I detail for a living I'm most careful with the many brands and types of wheel cleaners I use on clients cars. Sometimes, I have allowed a wheel cleaner to dwell over 1 minute (most suggest much less) and caused myself grief with the staining.

Don't blame the product if the instructions are not followed. I know that's not what you want to hear but that's the real world.

I'm in agreeance with Mr. Stoops, and alfisti here. The bottle does state 15 seconds and you left in on for longer than the suggested time. Now you are upset with the product and apparently the whole company for a mistake YOU made by not reading and following simple instructions on the bottle. You don't have to like the product or the brand but blaming them for YOUR mistake is immature at best. Hopefully your not looking for them to replace your wheels or something like that or some kind of handout. Others have offered their help in correcting the problem and you did try as you have stated. If this is all that can be done without repainting or repairing the wheels then that's all that can be done. Youll just have to deal with your mistake if there is no way to do a DIY repair. Sorry man.

Again if Meguiar's would make safer products that cannot harm your vehicle (in the day and age of going green) I might re-consider leaving them.

All chemical based wheel cleaners that I have seen (Meguiars and other brands) have a reccommended dwell time after spraying. They are always in the order of seconds, not minutes.

Let us know if you find an effective wheel cleaner made by another manufacturer where this is not the case..

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
