Is this a good Light for finding defects ?

    Is this a good Light for finding defects ?

    I got a workforce halogen spotlight with 1 million candle power would that be good for finding swirls scratches etc or should I return it and get a xenon light ? I can't get the brinkman light in my area as far as I know

    A lot of guys use halogen spots for detailing work - they flood the area with light and will reveal all sorts of below surface defects on close inspection. They do tend to generate a lot of heat though!

      this one is a worklight so its in a gun case shouldent generate much heat at least i dont think so thanks mike

          Haven't tried something like that, but I'm guessing it's way to bright.

          The idea is to highlight defects. If the light's too bright or has a poor pattern you end up washing out your view rather than accenting it.

          But you don't know unless you try it.

            SunnyD, I picked up my Brinkmann at Canadian Tire.

            It's not the dual xenon model unfortunately, one xenon bulb and one led.

              I have found that Brinkmanns are over-rated for finding swirls, for the same reasons mentioned by the other pc.

              They provide too much light, and the scratch you thought you saw under normal neons often gets drowned out and becomes invisible...

              *EDIT* I'm referring to the dual-xenon Brinkmann.

                You mean noma light they have that said it was halogen I'll check ct again if I can find it I'll return this and get it maybe
