Thank god, you guys don't know how happy I am to hear that they're probably just etched water spots... I was thinking I would have to repaint my baby, and a laguna seca blue M3 would not be cheap to repaint

It's calcium deposits and a bit of bird lime nothing more (along with swirl marks). BMW is quite hard. Hand polishing may remove the etching, but to bring the true life back to the paint, it's a rotary polish.
